Dr. B and "standard management fee"

I was a patient of Dr. B but switched to my original clinic for specific reasons, but will continue to see him to continue my immune protocol.

I e-mailed the office to inquire about referrals to a visiting nurse service for my intralipids.

I received a phone call on Monday from Stacy in the business office saying that Dr. B instituted a standard management fee of $1250. She said that they will mail/fax any papers, fill prescriptions, etc for another practice, but it will cost. (no discounts)

Has anyone else heard of this new policy? I was a bit thrown to say the least......Chat Icon

I received the same call from her but Dr. B had already told me that was his fee. I know its crazy but not sure what alternative we have. I think she said we can try and submit to our insurance and see if we can get any money back.

sorry, is that for the intralipids or to use his office for your immune protocol?

I'm thinking that it's for just continuing to see him for this protocol even thought I'm not "officially" his patient but also any paperwork the girls need to get from my files, etc.

The way he explained it to me was that it's a lot to sit down, go over files, make up protocol, mtgs w nurses about it, as well as ordering meds, dealing w paperwork, etc.... That's what the fee covers.

Re: Dr. B and "standard management fee"

When I used him for immune treatment only while cycling at another clinic I had paid $1,000 as a fee, plus he billed my insurance for visits. This was last year.

I moved my embryos to another clinic he used and he did my whole FET, no management fee.

I guess if I use another clinic for IVF, I will have to pay the $1,250 management fee when using him for immune treatment only. I understand this fee is for each cycle I use him for immunological treatment. Will he charge for the office visits, too?

I was thinking about this too. I think most of my monitoring will take place at the other clinic.....It's a whole lot of money, but what choice do I have??
