Pregnancy Acne

So no surprise since a lot of women get this while pregnant, but while mine is mild, everytime I get an occasional big pimple that comes to a head where I've either popped it or had it extracted, it leaves a red mark behind. I know pregnant skin takes even longer to heal! Just wondering how do you treat these kinds of pimples? If you leave them alone and wait it out, will they go away without leaving any acne scars? I try using a sulfur mask to spot treat, but I really don't think any spot treatment works. I just want to get through the rest of my pregnancy without anymore scarring -- my skin was so clear before!

i get the same thing but I use alcohol to dry it out, it usually goes away in a day or 2 and I haven't really been wearing makeup at all. it seems to be a lot better when I don't wear makeup.

I get the same red dot after but within a week its gone.

I've never tried alcohol before. Does it still come to a head if you do that?

I'm seeing derm for something else tomorrow so maybe I'll see about getting it extracted. Or I don't know, are cortisone shots safe during pregnancy? It's starting to look inflamed, and I know cortisone shots can make it look so much better by the next day, but I'm not sure how safe it is.

it dries it out so sometimes it never comes to a head. Derm will tell you this is bad lol, but I refuse to use anything while pregnant so its that or wash with soap and water for me.

I'm not sure whats safe durning pregnancy since I don't feel safe using anything. for me, I'd rather walk around with zits if thats what happens then use a chemical while pregnant

It's not so much the pimples themselves that bother me, it's the scars that are left afterwards. I have marks left over from months ago, and they always seem to be on the one side of my face (even though I don't even sleep on that side). So frustrating.

Re: Pregnancy Acne

I feel your pain. During pregnancy with DD, I had sooooo much acne - and never really had that issue my whole life. i actually didn't even remember how bad it was until I came across a pic I took of my face to remind me of it, lol.

Anyway, I always got serious red marks, whether I popped them or not. I don't have any great advice, since this time around I still have the scars from DD! They've faded a lot, but I really got my acne on my cheeks, which unfortunately don't fade as easily. Maybe dermabrasion after this DC is born?

After birth, though, my skin was SO clear - right away. I just hope it isn't as bad this time around. So, I guess no great advice, but if you don't have to wear make-up to cover the scars, it wasn't as bad as I had it, at least. Chat Icon
