Newbie with a question about Massage
Hi! I just got my BFP yesterday so I am new to this board. Does anyone know about Pregnancy and Massage? Can you only get a "pre-natal" massage. I have a membership at Massage Envy and I don't know if its ok to go if they don't do prenatal. TIA!!

I was wondering the same thing, I also have a membership at massage envy. Do you know if we can transfer the massages until we're out of the first tri-mester? I'm pretty sure they do offer pre-natal massages though.

Re: Newbie with a question about Massage
I have a membership at massge envy that i got for mothers day (after i was preg.) All i had to do was bring them a letter from my dr. stating it was ok. Nobody mentioned anything about the first tri to me. but i was in my second by then.

Oh my goodness...really? My husband gives me a massage all the time. Is this bad? Do I really have to tell him to stop?

Nah, I wouldn't sweat it. From what I've read, there's no scientific proof that massage is bad during the first tri. It's just that the first tri is statistically most commonly when things go wrong with pregnancies, and massage places don't want to open themselves up to lawsuits if something bad happens soon after a woman has a massage.
I'd have him stick to your neck and shoulders, though, and not your lower back, just so you don't think twice about it and wonder if it's okay (which would just make you more tense!).

Re: Newbie with a question about Massage
i have been going for massage therapy for my back since march, due to a car accident last fall. i told her as soon as i was pregnant, and she has continued but there are certain areas and intensities she stays away from. i saw my OB today and mentioned this to her, and she told me it is perfectly fine to continue with the massages. (and i am early in my 1st tri). the thing is that most massage places won't touch you until you are out of your 1st tri. but if you find one that will and your ob okays it, then obv it's fine.
