How much paid Maternity Leave did you get?

I just found out that my office policy is you get 1/2 week paid leave for every year you are here -- too bad I have only been here for 2 years-- So I get a whopping 1 week paid maternity leave!!!

I get 3 weeks vacay a year and since I am due in Dec, I plan on using 2-3 vacation weeks from 2011 and 2 weeks from 2011 toward my maternity leave. The rest will be unpaid I guess, plus disabiility. I am thinking I get at least 12 weeks total leave, hoping for more, or atleast a part time schedule for a while.

Just woindering what other office/job policies are like re: maternity leave.


Also-- I was hoping to ask for additional time off as an added benefit since I dont partake in my office's health care plan bc I am on my husbands.. thoughts on whether that argument may fly?

i don't get any maternity leave paid by my company. I have to use my own accruals...which stinks!

My company pays out ZERO!

I get 3 weeks paid vaca a year. Ill have 2 saved up at that time and after that I will go on short term disability which pays out at 70% of my salary.

The STD is something I pay into each month as part of my companies benefits package and not something given out by my state.

Our company policy is, I believe 4 wks, plus 1 wk per year at the company - maxing at 12 wks.

So I have always taken about 14-16 wks per child. 12 paid maternity and then use vacation time.

3 months....Thank goodness bc last time with DD i didnt get paid anything!!

i teach in nyc and we have to use our accumulated sick and personal days. we get up to 6 weeks natural, 8 weeks for csection. if you dont have the days, you can borrow them and then pay them back after you return. after that is unpaid. we can take a total of 12 weeks.

12 weeks unpaid. I am going to try for disability, but not sure I'll qualify based on when I signed up..

I work in a school and they only pay for whatever sick/personal days you choose to use. We only get 12 (total sick and personal) a year and personal time doesn't roll over, so it's not much, considering anyone young enough to have babies hasn't been working here long enough to accrue a great deal of sick time. When I was on leave with my son, I got 8 days (almost 2 work weeks) paid from using my days, then the remainder of the first 6 weeks, I got disability, then another 6 weeks nothing.

Our maternity leave in this country STINKS! In Europe you get 9 months to a year PAID :(


I'm a NYC teacher. We get 6 weeks paid for vaginal birth and 8 weeks for c-section.

we get 8 weeks paid and then you can take an additional 4 weeks paid using vacation time (which i have enough of, and then some) so i plan to take the full 12 weeks. then you have to return to work either full or part time.

My job makes us use all of our time before we start using other time.

So we get a sick day for every year we are here, then a half sick day or something like that. Its weird. And then we use our vacation. And then we'd go on disability which is half time.

I've been at my job 9 full calendar years (although I've been here 10 years July 9 -- but they start it in January of the following year) and then 3 weeks vacation. So I should have 12 weeks of full pay. If I want to take more than that, I can take it at no pay (FMLA). But I plan to work from home until DD is 6 months old. DS will still go to day care in the meantime (he only goes 3 days a week). The two days a week I'll be home with him and DD will be interesting!

The maternity leave is the only thing that keep me here- trying for #2. I get 16 weeks paid maternity. The only good thing about this place.
