If you're NOT finding out sex...
what do you do at the 20 week sono?? Not look at it? I'm sure the baby's moving like crazy at that point, so my SIL said if we're not finding out that I probably can't even look at the screen...which makes me sad...
can the sonographer still print pics for us, just when the baby's positioned where you can't see anything??
I'll be sad if I can't even see a picture of my at that point

Of course you can still look! Just tell the tech that u don't want to know. You're not gonna know what you're looking at down there anyway!

Re: If you're NOT finding out sex...
Honestly, it is pretty hard to distinguish the gender unless you are told they are looking for it and point it out to you. They take a ton of pictures of all the body parts. My sono tech did not even do the gender until the end and she had also asked us in the beginning of the appointment if we wanted to know or not. I don't think you have anything to worry about!

I just had my Level II and we are still team . Certain body parts are very obvious, but I think the gender isn't, especially if you don't know what to look for.

i agree - you can watch everything!! just tell the tech you dont want to know the gender. you def wont know what you are looking out for the most part anyway.

The sono tech just told us when to close our eyes, incase something was noticeable.

Re: If you're NOT finding out sex...
alright so as long as I make it very clear we do not want to know, I'll trust that the tech won't be a d****bag and will do as all of you mentioned above!!

Re: If you're NOT finding out sex...
I looked with both my kids and never new the gender until they were born. when the do the scan of htat area they will most likely either do it so quick you wont notice or turn the screen away.
Trust me I tried to look this time and still missed it!

i watched the entire scan and so did DH. he was TRYING to figure it out... no such luck for him though lol. we're still the tech will know how to do it so you won't be able to accidentally see something.

Re: If you're NOT finding out sex...
this makes me feel better because at first we were going to find out, mostly because it was what I wanted...but DH told me he REALLY did NOT want to find out, he really wants the surprise...so I started to think about it and now I'm psyched to be team also, and my darn SIL's gotta make me worry the surprise will be ruined if I look
thanks again to all!

Re: If you're NOT finding out sex...
I couldn't tell what I was thinking at at the level II for any of my kids-we found out for DD and DS and the tech told us, but I'm team with this one and just told the tech I didn't want to know.
I saw a flash of the money shot on the screen but couldn't tell anything from it.

Re: If you're NOT finding out sex...
We found out with my first, and let me tell you, the first thing that was shown was a clear as day scrotum. We knew as soon as we saw it, it was a boy. Im sure the tech will tell you when not to look!!
We wont be finding out this time, and I better get pictures of my baby!

Re: If you're NOT finding out sex...
Unless you or your dh is a sono tech. Its tough to tell what you are looking at. I watched every one, at my 20 week with #2 they told me when not to look. But honeslty I could never tell what I was looking at.

Re: If you're NOT finding out sex...
I have 45 minutes of video at my 21 week sono and i have replayed it 4 times for various people. You cant tell what i am having. She did not spend a lot of time in that area since i do not want to know what we are having. She did not ignore the area completely though.

Re: If you're NOT finding out sex...
I went with my sister for her level 2 she was having the doctor write the sex of the baby and put it in an envelope b/c her husband was in the hospital at the time. She was going to bring the envelope to the hospital so they could find out together. Anyway, at the end of the sonogram, the doctor was like I can't believe you couldn't tell I went over that area five times! We had no idea, she found out later that day when she was with her husband. It was a boy!
