feta cheese

Hi, DH got me Uncle Pete's (in Hickville/Woodbury Rd) Greek Salad yesterday and I ate it forgetting I am supposed to ask if its pasteurized. Now I feel guilty. Uncle Pete's is closed today. Anyone ever ask them if its pasteurized?

Thanks - Do you eat it in restaurants or from the food store? I know in the food store you can read its pasteurized which is okay but do you eat it from restaurants too often? Do you ask if its pasteurized?

I eat whatever I want. In moderation. My dr said everything in moderation. I wouldn't worry. The chances of listeria are very low.

Is it made in the store? I thought that any cheese made in the US had to be pasteurized.

I'm not sure I forgot to ask and they are closed today. I think most places don't use unpasteurized cheese but few places do- I don't think there is a law about it or anything.

I guess its rare that it is unpasteurized and I shouldn't worry too much?

I am a cheese maniac! And in the beginning of my pg I was so paranoid about cheeses. as the pp said, cheese made in the US has to be pasturized. So unless you are at a fancy restaurant, I doubt you have anything to worry about. (unless they make their own in the store).

Same here. It would actually be more $$$ & more work for a restaurant to get and use unpasteurized cheese.
