Spinoff: Sunscreen on babies
a response to my previous SPF post made me curious...
what is the "word" on using sunscreen on babies?
SIL told me you can't use it on babies until they are over 1 yr old...but I def remember my cousin and my other SIL using it on their babies before 1 year, because their kids were like 7 or 8 months old during their first summer...
what's the deal? my kid will be 5 months come summer next year so I'm curious, can I use it on them? if not, then I basically can't go to a pool/beach with them unless they are COMPLETELY covered up???
TIA!

Re: Spinoff: Sunscreen on babies
I remember hearing on here that the baby needed to be 6 months old. But at my son's 2month appt my ped told me sunscreen was fine but not bug spray. My friend whose DC is 6 weeks older was told sunscreen was fine if out for prolonged periods but not to use banana boat....

Re: Spinoff: Sunscreen on babies
thanks ladies...
that's much better than 1 year! DH and I weren't able to take our trip to Aruba this summer (for many reasons, not just baby, although thankgoodness we didn't book because now I wouldn't be able to drink/eat alot of the seafood, etc)
but anyway, we were hoping we could take our 1st trip next summer, and 6 months puts us to August, so that will work perfectly!
