Spotting....

Hi All! I'm very new at this - only 6 weeks in. I've been to the doctor a few times already because I've been spotting. It's been on and off and varying from light brown to a darker brown for the past two days. My hcg levels are rising appropriately but it still makes me nervous. Has anyone else experienced this?

**UPDATE: So the same day that I posted this I started to bleed red followed by brown discharge. I call the emergency number at the doctor's office and my doctor follows up immediately. Tells me it's normal but if it makes me feel better to come in the next day. I go in Tuesday and see a different doctor and she tells me the same thing but when she does an internal sono doesn't see what she saw the Thursday before and feels "discouraged" tells me that it's probably the beginnings of a miscarriage. Needless to say I was devastated! I read so many different stories and did my research and work up yesterday and for some reason I knew everything was OK in my heart. I had a pelvic sonogram scheduled and went in to find out that my lima bean is there with a heart beat and all meansuraing exactly 6w 3 days like I thought. I have blood lining my uterus so I will most likely continue to spot/ bleed for the next few weeks...

Hi, I am around the same time as you - 5 1/2 weeks. I had a lot of spotting after the pap test at my Drs. I freaked out and called her, and she said it was normal. Then I had some light spotting for the past few days. My books say its normal, but it makes me really nervous.

I started spotting around the 6 week mark. It was also mostly brown with a few bright red times. But it lasted 3 weeks and it was the only time it happened. The dr. said for me it was either a cyst, blood in my uterus, or a second sac that my body was expelling.

I wish you both much luck. It is normal but VERY scary.

I never had that issue but just wanted to say that I've read it many times on here from various mommas who went on to have happy and healthy pregnancies.

i had brown spotting from weeks 7-9. all was fine and now i have a 7w old good luck!

I had brown spotting a few different times, around weeks 5 and a half, 8, and 10. My OB told me that as long as it wasn't red bleeding accompanied by cramps that I should stay calm.

It's so scary to look down and see that, but they always say that brown blood is "old blood". Hang in there.

I had spotting around 5 weeks, 13 weeks and 19 weeks. All was brown and lasted about 1-2 days. I went to the dr. when it happened at 13 weeks and he said it looked like it was a blood clot. I called him when it happened at 19 and he said if it was brown it was most likely nothing but I could go in to see him if i wanted to. I chose not to.

I had light - dark brown spotting starting an entire week before my BFP and it has continued daily and currently, still today (at 9.5 weeks) but its very light most days the past few weeks and never red. Its kinda yellow-tan-brown at times.

Dr sees nothing wrong and like others said, brown is old blood. If its not red and no severe cramping all is probably fine. Its good to see your doc as much as he'll let you !! I got lots of early sonograms which was fun because of it!
