Cruises
Hey Ladies,
Anyone know the policy for cruises while pregnant? What if there is a cut off for weeks, and you didnt tell them how far you really were, bc dr. said it was ok to go? Just curious
TIA

Re: Cruises
Ok... yeah I was suprised it was that early. I would have thought it would be more like the third trimester was a no no.
Its going to be close but I was hoping if I was 1 or 2 weeks past that it wouldnt have been a big deal, but guess it might be...

Re: Cruises
You need to be back by your 24th week. And you need a note confirming your dates. DH and I are going in October. Ill be like 20/22 wks by then. Dr said perfectly fine and he'll write me a note.
I'm pretty sure that they choose 24wks bc by then the baby is considered viable, so if you deliver they don't have the capacity to help the baby. No equipment, NICU, etc.. that's a huge liability for them!

This exactly!! I just came back a few days ago from a cruise and this is what they told me as well and they flagged my account as "special needs" so everyone is aware that you are pregnant.

Re: Cruises
Thanks everyone!
I checked Carnival's website and they said as long as we depart in the 24th week we are ok. I think we are going to go that week, and they just said they need a dr.'s note.
Its weird that they label it sepcial needs, but I guess I understand it. It will be nice getting the special attention

Just be sure that when you book the cruise and they will ask if you are pregnant, that you get them that doctor's note, they will "harrass" you for it LOL! Carnival called me and sent me letter until I faxed them my doc's note and they will ask for the original at embarkation so be sure to have it with your boarding pass...after that everything should be fine........have a great cruise!

Wow... good to know! Thank you! I am so nervous that I will miss something with all of these extra limitations and restrictions when youre pregnant .
The cruise that would work best for us leaves when I will be 24w5d, and returns when I will be 25w6d. I checked their poilicy and they said as long as you leave in your 24th week you are ok. Im still so nervous Im going to miss something. If we did any other cruise earlier it would be much more expensive. Uggh.
Thanks for your advice!

Re: Cruises
I went on a cruise last year when I was 12-13wks pregnant and didn't even tell them. I guess when you're that early there's really no need to.
Anyway, I was fine, I didn't feel at all sick from the motion, and I ate like a horse

Re: Cruises
don't worry you will be fine. Like I said as long as you fax them your doctor's note (they will provide one for your doc to complete) and bring the original with you when you board because they asked me for mine and I did have it with me along with my boarding pass. After that you will be ok.

Re: Cruises
Nice!!! Oooh the food is going to be twice as good while pregnant, not having to worry about being in a bikini after lol. Yeah I wish I didnt have to tell them... but Im sure Im going to be showing by then! I was scared if I didnt say anything I would have trouble when I got there, or with their insurance or something. I am 17w today, and if I left today they wouldnt know bc Im not really showing yet. Wish I thought to go sooner!
Sorry PennyCat forgot to quote!

no problem...enjoy your cruise. As I said earlier, I just got back from one a few days ago, so if you have any other questions feel free to ask
