help me with FB privacy settings asap!

My mother stalks my life on fb. I've changed all of my privacy settings months ago, so that she can only see my profile pic and religion, lol. She cannot see my statuses, wall posts, pics etc.

But..............
Yesterday, she said "oh what happened at work?"
I said how do you know? She said "I saw your comment on your friend's status". Chat Icon

HOWWWWWWW is she able to see what i wrote on someone elses wall/status? I've blocked her from my wall! She is not mutual friends, so i can't understand how she's able to see this?

I changed all my settings to specifically exclude my mother from seeing anything. What setting did I miss??
This is like the 3rd time she's done this and was able to see what I wrote on someone elses page and then asks about it. It's creepy.

She spends all her time clicking around, trying to see what i do, and what I'm up to. It's very invasive, ESP since I blocked her from seeing everything. She's going out of her way to search for shitt. I'm about to block her entirely. Help me!!

I would block her totally if you dont want her seeing anything you write on FB. Even if she searches for you, you will be gone on FB

Blocking her entirely is an option, but I think you can also make it so people don't see when you comment on other people's walls. Try this: on your wall, where it says that you've commented on someone else's status, click on the right side where there's the x (or that circular thing) and there should be an option to hide all posts like that. I think that makes it so it doesn't show up on your wall or others.

That has to do with the other person's privacy filter's. If they have it set to "Everyone" or "Friends of Friends" than she could see it to0. Facebook takes the stance that Wall posts are supposed to be like a Public Forum so they don't really have any ways to block it. If you want it to be private they state that you should send it in a private message. Sorry Chat Icon

Maybe you should unfriend her if it bothers you that much (although I know it's your mom and that would probably open up a whole other can of worms)

From Facebooks FAQ's on Wall postings:

If I post something on my friend’s Wall, who gets to see it?
Something you post on your friend’s Wall is part of your friend’s profile, so it will depend on the privacy settings your friend has selected. If you want to write something to your friend privately, don’t post it. Send a message instead.

Thanks for this info! Re: the original post. I'm not sure if blocking her completely is the right thing. Will she retaliate and come after you harder? If not than I say do it. Sorry your in this situation, it sounds like a difficult one.

I gotcha- but if she can't see my wall saying "Mary commented on Sue Smith's status', then how does she know i posted on Sue Smith's status???? KWIM? Would it come up in my mothers' newsfeed? God I hate FB!!!!

I'm not sure if it would come up on the newsfeed.

Is she friends with Sue Smith? Depending on Sue's privacy settings, she may be able to go to Sue's wall & see everything.

If you block her, she will be unable to see any comments you write on anyone's wall and you won't be able to see hers either.

Not sure if this would help you but this is about the Recent Activity Feeds. I just went on my Profile and went to a comment that I had made on someone else's wall and there was an X next to it and one of the options was to Hide all Comments on wall activity, and it deleted all of that info from my profile. Seems to be a good option

*****************************

While you cannot completely turn off Recent Activity stories, you can prevent other people from seeing certain types of stories.

To prevent people from seeing a Recent Activity story about a profile change you make (e.g., changed relationship status):

Go to your privacy settings.
Click the "Customize Settings" link within the "Sharing on Facebook" section.
Update the individual sections to the privacy level that you desire. For example, if you want to change your relationship status but do not want anyone to view a Recent Activity story about this change, customize your "Relationships" setting to "Only Me." Note: If you choose the "Only Me" setting, you will still be able to view a Recent Activity story about your relationship change, but no one else will.

To prevent people from seeing a Recent Activity story about your likes, activities and other connections:

Go to your privacy settings.
Click the "View Settings" link beneath "Connecting on Facebook."
Update "See your likes, activities and other connections" to the privacy level that you desire. Note: Anyone you restrict here will not be able to view your likes and activities on your profile Info tab.

For stories that are about content you do not own (e.g., comments you make on other peoples' statuses), Recent Activity stories only appear to people who are allowed to view the original content that they are about, based on privacy setting chosen by the person who posted the content. Remember that you can remove any Recent Activity story by clicking the "Remove" button that appears to the right of the story after you move your mouse over it.

Your friend's FB probably isn't on private, so your mother is able to look at it without being friends with her.

so is it safe to assume this is what she's doing: looking at my Friend List, then clicking on THEIR pages. Some friends don't happen to have their page set to private, and she is just clicking around THEIR pages-people she doesn't even know!!! ... And then seeing my comment? That sounds very possible, because if she's not getting notification on her newsfeed and can't see my wall, this is the only other thing I can think of!
----
I told my friend at work what happened. So we are setting my mother up. My friend posted a status about this and I commented on it, and referred to my mother and her need to get a life and/or hobby instead of playing detective and stalking me all day long.

It would probably come up under "top news". I'm always seeing stuff that my friends post on their friends pages through that link. Obviously their friends do not have their wall set to "friends only".
