Furniture debacle...long but please help

So I went with my mother to BRU to order bean's furniture tonight, but to my surprise, we could not order her crib. (FYI: BRU is not selling any Baby Cache cribs because regulations changed and EVERY single crib has to be individually checked). According to the girl at BRU, it would be about 2 weeks before we know if the crib meets standards or not, and if it doesn't, back to the drawing board. My mom and I went to Behr's and BBB to check out furniture tonight. I did find a set that i love just as much as the original, only issue is that comes in antique white not pure white. If we didn't just put up wainscoting it wouldn't be such an issue. Here are some pics to help you give me advice:
Original crib:External Image
Original changing table: External Image
Original dresser:External Image
Color of the baby's room: External Image
Bedroom decor: External Image
New Furniture: External Image
except with this crib: External Image
Question: what color do we do the wainscoting, base moulding, crown moulding and chair rail? Will white look weird? The closet doors, moulding around her window and her fabric blinds are white already. Should I just suck it up and wait to find out about the Baby Cache? What would you do?

I personally like the original crib better. If you have the time to spare I would def. wait it out and get the furniture you want. We picked up our furniture last week from BRU and it came in quick. Not sure if those new regulations you spoke about were in effect.

They just started. If people's furniture is in the store you can't even pick up the crib. I'm worried they will reacall it all together.

Although I like the original crib better, I think that both cribs are so similar that you can just go with the second one.

Are you still keeping the first furniture or would you switch everything to the second set?

Switch everything to the second because tjey, are different colors. the second set actually has detailing that mimics the wainscoting in her room.

I would personally go with the second (new) one. There is very little difference and I would be concerned as to why the first set is now under inspection.

Could you paint the wainscotting a beige color like the color in the center of the quilt pattern? I think that would look great with the mauve color on top, which I really, really like BTW.Chat Icon

Edited to clarify as I think I was confused. Chat Icon

Did you see the Munire Newport collection? It looks almost just like the first set you picked. I know it comes in white, just not sure if it's pure white or antique.

You know, I was thinking about a Baby Cache crib that both Behr's and BRU sold. I saw it in the store on Tuesday and showed DH on BRU website that night, but then it wasn't online the next day. Now I know why!

When did this happen? We picked up our Baby Cache crib from BRU last Friday and no one mentioned anything about a recall or checking things

Is there any info online you know of?

I don't think it will be that big of an issue BUT if you hate the new color against your wainscotting have the crib color, color matched and just repaint the wainscotting to the new color. problem solved!

Nope. The sales associate in Bohemia told me it just started.

Re: Furniture debacle...long but please help

Just this week the Federal government recalled all drop side cribs which is why they have to evaluate everything.

Just as a follow-up, i called BRU and they looked up my specific crib and couldn't find any recall info, but the customer service person wasn't too clear on why all the cribs were pulled off of the website. I think i'm going to the store tomorrow to ask them in person and see if they can tell me anything better in person.

thanks for the heads up though!

and to answer your original question Chat Icon..

i bet you won't notice the difference in the white and antique white in the room Chat Icon

if you do, would it be too much trouble to repaint the wainscotting?
HAve you seen the new set in person? might help you determine if its actually that different from the white you already have in the room

I personallly like the second set better. I would then paint all the moulding, etc. an antique white to match.
