Another name/ nickname question

Thanks for all the Italian boy names on ym other thread

We really like Alessio but we feel that it's almost certain he will end up being called Alex once he's old enough that it's out of our hands. My mom even thinks he will be called Al which I HATE b/c it reminds me of someone I can't stand, lol.

Do you girls think Alessio is doomed to nicknames? I actually don't mind Alex the way I mind Al but still if I loved Alex so much I would just name him Alex- which obviously I don't want to.

i definitely think that people will come up with nicknames for alessio. i don't really see alex as much as i would see them calling him al or les.

unfortunately, someone will always find someway to give someone a nickname. me personally, if i hear you calling alessio and only alessio, that is what i will call him too.

If you call him Alessio that is what People will call him. One of my brothers is Christian and nobody calls him Chris. My mother hated nicknames so none of is had names people could shorten except his. He will jot respond to it and in the beginning of his relationship with his GF, he would correct her.

To be honest, I feel like AL would be the most common nickname for him.
