DS is 3 1/2. He had his tighty-whiteys. My friend suggested boxer briefs. DS thinks they are very comfy.
Ex-H things there is not enough support.

So, how much support does he need?

Re: DS and big boy underwear --- what type

unless your son has a 12 inch schlong, I don't think that needs that much support lol

My almost 7 YO gets chafing at times (esp. in the summer) so briefs help him in that dept. Chat Icon

My son has boxers, BBs, and the regular ones. I like the bbs the best.

Re: DS and big boy underwear --- what type (w/exh reason)

Here is the reason my ex-h gave:

"It’s more of an activity level kind of thing. If I am going to mountain bike or do something vigorous I wear more supportive stuff… problem is kids being kids you never know when they are going to be doing something vigorous, so best to just assume they are always going to be unless they are headed to bed. I mean it’s certainly not an absolute rule, but as an example in boot camp they forced us all to wear tighty whities for that reason."

There is something seriously wrong with your EX...he is 3 1/2 boxer briefs are fine. What kind of protection does the BB give him anyway....there cotton!

I guess I really never thought about him needing 'support', but then again I don't have that stuff! My DS wears both BB and regular briefs, he seems to like both.

My DS has both. I think he prefers the boxer briefs. I prefer the regular briefs, because they don't bunch up in his pants as much.

I never for a moment considered what type of support a 3 year old would need. I don't think you have to worry about it yet.

My DS wears the BBs. The briefs never, um, held him in and it was uncomfortable for him. The BBs are much better for him.
