question for women who went through IVF
HI- I am asking this question for my cousin. I went through IVF but this has never happened to me so I am no help.
My cousin went through her first round of IVF 2 weeks ago. Over the last few days she started spotting. She thought she got her period and was so bummed. She went yesterday for her 1st beta and it came back positive. The doctor said she does have her period. He told her she may miscarry but to up her progesterone shot to 2x a day to see if it helps. Has this ever happened to anybody on here and they continued to be preg. with out miscarrying? TIA

It is hard to say. . .the doctor should be checking her beta levels every 2-3 days to make sure the #'s are rising. Spotting can be normal, but everyone is different. Good luck to her!

Re: question for women who went through IVF
Thank you for your posts. It's so weird her doctor has not told her anything. This whole process has been a secret. She is not the type to speak up. She gets nervous to ask questions and just follows what the doctir says. My IVF experience was very different. I was given a schedule told exactly what was going to happen. After my retrievel I received a call with the number of fertilized eggs. She had no clue of any of this until the day of the transfer. She didn't even get to choose what to put back. She goes to an RE at NYU. She is going back on Friday for more blood work. She has been through so much that I hope this works. If it doesn't I am really pushing her to chage doctors. The worse part is, she is paying out of pocket.

Re: question for women who went through IVF
Sometimes your progesterone is low and may cause break through bleeding and upping the dose may help. I agree with the pp i would want to make sure the beta is doubling and know what her progesterone levels are. It may be time for a new RE it is so important that you can ask questions as IF is stressful as it is. Sending prayers for a healthy pregnancy
