Question regarding booster seats for 4 year old
So I bought a booster seat for my DH's car. Its not an expensive one (graco which cost 60). Anyway, when i put it together i noticed that it doesnt anchor to the back seat. I this normal? Is it that the seat belt the anchor once my DD is in it?
I have a booster in my car, but it also has a 5 point harness and it is anchored.
Im a little skeptical about this seat and was wondering of this is the norm for these seats. The instructions doesnt say anything about it being anchored down so im assuming its not a defect.

high back boosters as well as no back boosters (NO 5pt harness) do NOT get anchored to the car...
Also, when you remove the 5pt harness from the seat in your car you can NOT anchor and use the seat belt at the same time.
the seat is just that a seat that is placed on your car seat and the seat belt goes over them and the seat

That's the norm but not necessarily the rule. Some boosters are LATCHable, read the manual. Nautilus can be LATCHed in when in booster mode, as can Clek boosters.
When the booster is not in use it should still be secured with a seat belt so it isn't a projectile risk.

hmmmm, i have the nautilus, read the manual, and was under the impression that once in booster mode with a belt there was to be no latching...

Re: Question regarding booster seats for 4 year old
It isn't specifically excluded in the manual and Graco has confirmed that it is acceptable at both the 2008 Lifesavers conference and Kids In Motion conference.
They had put it in the manual as you can see here http://www.car-seat.org/showpost.php?p=613446&postcount=1
The current manual doesn't specifically exclude it, and Graco has stated it is fine to do in response to numerous inquiries.
Britax Frontier can also be used in LATCH as can Sunshine Kids Monterey, Compass B570, Britax Parkway SGL........
