Level 2 appointment today!! UPDATE
I have my level 2 appointment tonight and I am so excited to find out what we are having. I hope this day goes really fast because my appointment isnt until 6:30
So those of you that already had this done, what do they actually do at this appointment and how do they tell you the gender? Do they just blurt it out, ask if you want to know?
UPDATE:
We went for our level 2 last night and they said everything looks good and we are having a  ....I can't believe it! The whole time my intuition was telling me it was a boy, we were both shocked. I can't wait to start shopping I was really annoyed though because we didnt get any good pictures...the tech gave us two pictures of the face but it is a very bad picture, I cant even make out what it is. I thought I was going to get a ton of pictures...I guess I might have to splurge on the 3D sonogram.

i had my early anatomy scan at 16 weeks. it takes awhile bc they will look at everything on the baby...arms, legs, hands, feet, organs...brain and heart included. etc etc. They take a lot of measurements to make sure everything is developing properly. It really is amazing how well you can see everything. I loooved that appointment!
at the beginning of my appt the sono tech asked if we wanted to find out genders if she was able to tell. We said yes. As she was looking at each baby she was trying to get a view of the goods but didn't say anything until she got a clear shot. Then she would say "I know what Baby A is....do you want to know now or wait until the end?" We said no just tell us! I am sure every tech does it different but ours was good about making sure we wanted to know.

So excited for you! Its such a great appt, had mine yesterday. They asked me as soon as I walked in the room if I wanted to know the gender. Then they looked at all her body parts, brain, bladder, kidneys, heart etc and then she was like ok Ill tell you the gender now...
Its so amazing I cried as soon as she said "its a girl!"

Thank you I am so anxious I feel like I am going to be so nervous when the time comes for her to tell us the gender. I will update you after the appointment. I cant wait to see the baby again and see how it has grown especially since I've been feeling the baby more and more lately.

Had mine last night! I am team green so I can't answer the sex question. Otherwise it is a normal sonogram, just really long. Mine was 45 minutes!!!! It was so amazing seeing the baby for that long. S/he was moving ALL over the place. It was hard to get a great picture because of that but the tech got a few good ones. We brought our video camera and I'm going to go through the video and get some screen shots. The tech spent a lot of time measuring different things. Specifically the spinal cord, the cleft palate, the 4 chambers of the heart, the head circumfrence, the belly circum, the leg bone. A lot more, but she just got them quick and moved on.

Wow you have some good ones....I am hoping they fixed the printer becasue the last few times we went there they said the printer was broken so they couldnt print us out any pictures. I am going to bring my camera just in case. I hope my LO cooperates tonight!

We brought a flip camera and I am going through it to get some shots she didn't print up like the legs, a foot, the baby pointing with one finger. I'm able to go through it frame by frame. It's really neat. That and just getting to see it again =)

Thanks, I was so disappointed because everyone was telling me you will get such good pics at this appointment. Do you know how many weeks you have to be to get the 3D, 4D sono?

They actually asked me to be a part of some study where they look at the bone structure of the baby's face, the only thing I had to do was allow them to take a 3D photo and they are going to analyze it, so I said sure! (they dont even use my name or anything, just my age and will use the baby's birth info like weight, height, time in hosp etc) Anyway we got a 4D pic and its not that great, she has her hand over her face. My DH thinks its creepy and it looks like something from a sci-fi movie haha. But I think I may want to go again and get a 3D pic...
