OB & hospital quesion...
i've got 2 questions for you lovely gals...
1) has anyone had dr. victor klien as their high risk OB? if you did, what did you think of him? i hear very mixed reviews about him and he seems to be most famous for being on the team that delivered JLo's twins but i'd like to hear someone's personal experience here.
2) silly question -- is the North Shore LIJ and North Shore Manhasset the same hospital? (You can tell I'm very new to this) Has anyone delivered at either one and what did you think?
thank you gals a ton for your advice and help!!!

I can't answer your first question, but I can answer your second. NSUH Manhasset and LIJ are not the same hospital. They're close by, geographically, and related (part of the same system) but not the same.
I'm not on LI anymore so that's as far as I can help you. But I grew up near both those hospitals and used to be a candystriper at NS Manhasset.
Good luck with your pregnancy!

Re: OB & hospital quesion...
I will be delivering at LIJ tomorrow. I'm having a scheduled C Section...
I can tell you the nurses in L&D are all super nice. I've been to L&D 3 times for this pregnancy... and all 3 times I never had a nurse who was nasty or anything like that. They have always been super nice and attentive.
I don't have that dr and Sandra already answered the hospital question.
But when I'm home from the hospital (either sat or sun) I will post about my experience at some point... so I can let you know how it was. I think it will be a good experience overall though. And from what I hear LIJ has one of the best NICU's around. The NICU was important for me because there's a change my girl might need the NICU instead of the regular nursery.
NHUH is affiliated with LIJ... and their big plus is the new maternity ward they opened. Basically EVERYONE gets a single room (not an upgrade or extra money or anything like that). I hear it's like a hotel now!! Sounds so nice. I did hear a rumor that LIJ is going to be doing the same thing... but IDK if that's 100% true or when it will happen.

Re: OB & hospital quesion...
I delivered my at LIJ in NHP last month. Although I had a difficult pregnancy in the end, I was in the best care. I absolutely loved all the nurses, doctors, residents at LIJ. I was in L & D three times and stayed for six days in the end. I will never forget my experience there!
My son was also in the NICU there for 9 days since he was having trouble eating. The nurses in the NICU helped him tremendously. If they could only see the way he eats now!!

Re: OB & hospital quesion...
I delivered at LIJ.
I had such a wonderful experience there! The labor and delivery nurses were A-MAZING! I had a resident helping too. It was just such a great team. After DD was born I said GREAT JOB TEAM! LOL I felt like we worked together!
The NICU nurses taught me so much. I still think about little things that they told me. And they were just so calm, helped me with BFing and made it such a wonderful experience, even though it was hard seeing DD hooked up to all those monitors.
The nurses in maternity were awesome too. They gave me sponge baths b/c I couldn't get out of bed even though technically I was supposed to be taking a shower on my own. They were so wonderful and caring and efficient! My favorite was my last nurse, who told DH and I "YOU WILL GET PREGNANT AGAIN, stay away from her" LOL!
