Car Seat - Middle of Back Seat?????

Car Seat - Middle of Back Seat?????
Did you install the car seat in the middle of the back seat or on the side? I read that the middle is safest but wont it be hard to get the baby in and out??? Help!!!!! Thanks!

We installed the car seat on the side, b/c we have the locking clips on each side, but not the middle.

You have to look in your car's manual. Every car has a different "safest place" for the carseat. In most car's, the middle is the safest, but some cars have certain features that make the middle unsafe. My husband's car (Toyota Solara) has a small hump in the middle seat, so the carseat would not sit level in that spot. So in his car, we have it behind the driver's seat. In my car (Honda Civic), the safest is the middle, so that's where we have it. It's not difficult at all to get him out. When my son was really little and more "floppy," I would get in and sit in the seat next to him while I unbuckled him and lifted him out. Now that he's older and has total control of his body, I can just reach in and do it, and he kind of gets himself out while I guide him. Hope that makes sense!

What are locking clips?
The LATCH system - it's like a seatbelt locking system that attaches to the car seat base, you don't need to use the actual seatbelt.
Does that make sense?
