Re: Breast feeding :(
Honestly, DO NOT punish yourself. If you're unhappy and uncomfortable with something then why do it? Just makes for an unhappy mommy that leads to an unhappy baby. JMO I tried for 3 weeks and couldn't stand it. I tried pumping and I felt worse so I just gave up and didn't look back. He took to formula like a champ and now I have a happy and healthy 2 year old boy. I'm pregnant with #2 and just considering starting with formula this time. You have to do what's right for you. DH wanted me to try, but in the end I just couldn't and he supported me. I talked to both my mom and MIL and both said DH and I were FF babies and were fine and that was over 30 years ago. If she's fine with formula then leave it that way. Just concentrate on her get strong and healthy

Re: Breast feeding :(
It is a great thing for a baby, especially one In The nicu, BUT. Breastfeeding has to be something mommy is happy and comfortable with too. Baby needs you to be happy and strong and if it is not for you , so be it. I breastfed my ds for a year and was miserable the last 4 months of it. I should have stopped. Now with baby 2, once I start to feel that way again I will stop.

Re: Breast feeding :(
No one can tell you what to do with your baby. I mean, obviously you know breast feeding is best, but that doesn't mean that formula feeding is bad!! Baby being in NICU is stressful, believe me, DS was there for 10 days, I get it. Don't stress yourself out about it too much. If you want to, pump for a couple of times a day and just to try to keep up some sort of milk supply and decide what you want to do when the baby gets home.
Just absolutely do not stress yourself over this!!
Oh, and congrats!!!

This was my EXACT story with DD #1. But I will say that if your little one is in the nicu, maybe just try pumping a bit if you feel up to it? If not, then DD will get what she needs from the formula, dont stress about it.
