arms and hands going numb??
I'm going to call the dr about this tomorrow morning.
I don't want to google for fear of reading something crazy like I have to cut my arm off.
Anyone's arms or hands ever go numb? This started yesterday. My right arm and hand went numb for a little bit then stopped, then it happened again. After that it's been only my left side not my right again.
my left arm goes numb from before my elbow down to my fingertip. it's not like a numb i can't feel it... but like a painful numb... almost like if someone injected ice into my vein... but without the cold. It hurts. it's happened like 4 times yesterday... then most of the night and then once or twice today.
I'm 38 weeks and do have GD... so IDK if it's GD or preg related or just something else totally.

I get this and have read that it's normal. I forget why. I usually only get it when I'm sleeping though and I wake up and my hands are numb...i guess from laying on them wrong.

Re: arms and hands going numb??
I have been experiencing this for a few weeks now. It's actually at it's worst today. I wake up in the morning and my whole right arm is numb to my fingertips. My left is not as bad, but still it hurts to close my hand fully. My doctor told me it is carpal tunnel and if it gets really bad he is going to put me in a splint. I'm being induced Tuesday so I figured I should just deal with it til then. Good thing is it started getting really bad after I left work, otherwise I would have been in trouble. My wrists hurt big time whenever I try to write or bend them. Even typing this is a little strenous
Hope you feel better.

For me, it's definitely not from laying on them wrong. I wasn't laying down or leaning on them any of the times they went numb.

I had carpel tunnel in the back of my head. but wasn't sure if that would send a feeling from my elbow to the finger tips. I thought that was exclusively a wrist thing.
It def hurts to close my hand fully... I couldn't even really make a fist at all.

It's a side effect from GD. I had it with my 1st. I actually used to wear wrist braces to bed which really helped.

Same here. Last night was a prticularly rough night. It kept happening. I don't remember it being this bad with DS but I am not too concerned.

Re: arms and hands going numb??
I had this with my first pregnancy. It is due to swelling around the nerves in your arms (of, course, if you sleep in a funny position, you put more pressure on the nerves, which, added to the swelling, makes things worse!).
Maybe have less salt, stay cool, and keep your arms elevated.

Re: arms and hands going numb??
Carpel tunnel....and it sux!
I had it from month 6 on. I'm now 3 weeks post partum, and the feeling hasn't come back in my fingers yet....though the stabbing pain in my elbows has gone away. The painful numbness is improving, but slowly.
I iced my hands several times a day, and it did give me some relief. I also wore night braces on my wrists....but not sure that they're worth the cost for you as you're so close to the end!
Good luck!

Re: arms and hands going numb??
All the time, this pregnancy and last. I have Carpal Tunnel, which is aggravated by the pregnancy...
Last time, I had a few fingers that were numb for about 6 weeks after delivery

I get it too - it's water retention on the nerves.
