Activity Mats/Gyms

Are they worth it or should I save my gift cards for other things?

ETA: If you think its worth the purchase, any suggestions on which one to buy my DS?

My DS loves his FP Rainforest activity mat/gym! He plays on it every day, and has since he was about 5 months old. He's 9 months now. We usually throw a bunch of his toys on it, in addition to the ones it comes with and he will sit there for 30 minutes at a time and happily play.

I've been using mine since DD is 2-3 months old. She loves them. In fact, I have one upstairs and one downstairs. That's where we would do tummy time and where she first started rolling over. Now that she's older (5 1/2 months), she's much more interactive with the toys on it. She can even turn on the music switch herself (though she probably doesn't realize that what's she's doing).

ETA: DD has the Tiny Love Safari (not sure of exact name) and one from Infantino with different patterns on it. She seems to like the Tiny Love one just a little better--more stuff to look at.

DD doesn't care for the mat, but i still think it's important to put her down for tummy/back time. hoping she'll grow to like it over time...once she can actually interact with the toys! maybe check craigslist if you want to use the giftcard on something else?

Re: Activity Mats/Gyms

Are these gyms something that I will be able to save for the next baby or is this something that most children destroy?

I like the FP one, thanks for the recommendations. I was also looking at the Baby Einstein ocean one too. Anyone have that one?

We love our Fisher Price Luv U Zoo activity mat. It has a mobile and a pillow for tummy time. She loved laying under it when she was just a few weeks old and then now (at 6 months) she can grab all the toys and has a blast on it!
