last minute Carnival cruise help..island stuff help
Ok, so we leave on our cruise in two weeks...Cannot wait. a couple of things I need help with:
Ok, for the below Islands, what did you do with your little ones?
Nassau....I hear the beach isn't close. I know about the straw market. Anything else?
Margaritaville in Turks....is it for kids? i know they have swim up bars, is it more for adults? Is there a beach? DS loves the beach & sand
Carnivals Cape May Island....I know they have a beach so thats cool.
Also, for Camp Carinval, were the activities all day? I hope so
And lastly, the slide, how tall do you have to be and on our ship, the Miracle, the kiddie pool is on the same deck as the entrance to the slide....How in the world will I keep a toddler away from a slide.
Thanks, he is almost 2.5

Re: last minute Carnival cruise help..island stuff help
We were on the Miracle May 30th! We had a great time!!!!!
Ok, for the below Islands, what did you do with your little ones? Took them with us on port days, did ship activites when at sea.
Nassau....I hear the beach isn't close. I know about the straw market. Anything else? We wee planning to do day passes at the Sheraton, but when we got to Nassau, my kids (4 1/2 year old twins) wanted to shop for sourveniers then go back on the ship, which is what we did. We aslo went to the Pirates museum, but it turned out to be very dark inside, and they got scared.
Margaritaville in Turks....is it for kids? i know they have swim up bars, is it more for adults? Is there a beach? DS loves the beach & sand
The beach in front of Margaritaville is very nice, as it the pool there. There were a load of kids in the pool when we were there. Food and drinks at Margaritavilee are $$$$$ though.
Carnivals Cape May Island....I know they have a beach so thats cool. You mean Half Moon Cay? This beach is beautiful! there have a play area for the kids with small water slides also. Very fun beach day. We bought sand toys with us, which I highly recommend.
Also, for Camp Carinval, were the activities all day? I hope so. From 10AM until 10PM. My kids LOVED it! We would swim in the morning then they would go to Camp carnival for the afternoon or vice versa, depending on which activities they wanted to. We had anytime dining and always ate between 6-7PM. My DC would have their dinner while we had appetizers, then I would run them to Camp. My DH and I could then finish dinner and see a show in peace. It was great!!!
And lastly, the slide, how tall do you have to be and on our ship, the Miracle, the kiddie pool is on the same deck as the entrance to the slide....How in the world will I keep a toddler away from a slide. I think you have to be 42" to go down the slide. My son just made the cut off. The kiddie pool is right next to the slide. i have no advice on this as we never used the kiddie pool. We were always in the bigger pool.
I wish we were going back in 2 weeks! Everyday one of my DC asks when we can go back. They are even choosing this over a trip to Disney!
Enjoy every minute!!!!!

I went on the Miracle too (but a week earlier).
So... the stops were different. We had Puerto Rico & St Thomas.
BUT: Grand Turk was one of my favorite ports ever. The beach was RIGHT there off the ship. The water was perfect. The sand was a little rocky when you get into shallow water, but white sand. Beach chairs are free (but first come, first serve). There are areas in the shade.
The pool was lots of fun. It had a zero entry area which had lots of kids. The area with swim up bar by Margaritaville had lots more adults drinking. There must have been SO MUCH pee in that pool... I just kept thinking about it.
My kid was too young for camp carnival, but their hours were long.

I KNOW, can't wait....so needed!!
Thanks everyone, this helps.
What kind of activities do they have at Camp Carnival for the junior campers (ie 2-4 year olds) and would you drop your little one off during the day?
For dinner, my mom is pretty firm on DS being there because its the one time the whole family will be together, so we are planning on bringing the DVD and as soon as DS gets antsy, we'll pop it in...LOL...I LOVE the nighttime care idea....
