ugh did i just make a mistake?

i have been looking at convertible car seats and scoping out great deals on ebay. somewhere along the line i remembered the simpson racing child seat DH wanted....

it was more of a racing harness booster than a convertible though so i looked to see if they had convertible car seats...this is what i found

now its made by graco and simpson and has great crash test ratings...but i didn't realize until after ordering it that it does not have the option to go from rear facing to front facing...it is solely front facing.

i know they say children should remain rear facing until AT LEAST 1 year and now they even say they reccomend until 2 and i suppose my child would outgrow the infant seat before 1 yr no?

ugh...i feel stupid...can't believe i didn't realize that before i placed the order

yeah I think your baby will definitely be out of the infant seat before age 1 (DD was in a convertible rear facing by 7 months old). So you will need something that rear faces until age 2. I think you'll have to return it or save it for after age 2 and use something else until then.

The 2nd seat is great, but you're right - it can only be used forward facing. I would keep it if you can afford it, DS has it and LOVES it, and just get a less expensive rear facing convertible. Use the 20% off coupons from BBB and you will save a ton Chat Icon

Re: ugh did i just make a mistake?

yup, you definitely need another. That one is meant for older children, which is why it doesnt rear face. It is meant as the third stage seat, and is convertible bc it goes to a booster seat. So really you could still keep it. The middle age style, like the first one you posted, they eventually outgrow and you will need a larger one anyway.
