Cutting Toddler's Toenails!

How do you do it?
Last night was a nightmare trying to cut his toenails.
I usually do it at night after bath. He'll watch TV and I cut them. He's ok with his hand (as long as he's watching TV or something is distracting him). His feet are the worse. He fights me on it so I pretty much have to sit on him.

I keep up with his hands, but not so much with his feet so when it's time they really need a good trim
Any tips?

It's impossible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ann will not let me hold her feet still!! As a result, *TWICE* I've nipped the same toe ... so she fights it even more. Chat Icon

when he sleeps

When he was younger I was able to do that. Now he's 2 so once he goes to bed I leave him be b/c he won't sleep through that anymore. Plus, kneeling down in the crib at 9 months pregnant isn't the best option Chat Icon

He's too darn ticklish!

It's a nightmare. DS will kick me, flip over, and squirm away. It's literally a fight to cut his toenails and nails.

Re: Cutting Toddler's Toenails!

I pretend to be doing my nails and my
DD comes over and hands me her toes and hands so i can cut hers. sometimes it's one foot we get to do. Sometimes 2. And every once in a blue moon both feet and hands get cut at the same time. i just try not to force the issue. Just do a little here and there as needed and she's started to actually i think like it now.

Its sooooo hard for me to do his toenails! He's so ticklish and annoyed all he does is kick and run away. Maybe I'll try in the highchair Chat Icon

Re: Cutting Toddler's Toenails!

DS is not a toddler yet, but it's basically a two person job. we put him on the changing table, DH holds his legs down, while i try to cut his nails as fast as possible. this is made more difficult by the fact that DS and DH have the same toenails- they curl into the skin. So we try to do it at least once a month.
luckily having a cat prepared us for the nail-cutting battles! Chat Icon
