Internals UPDATE
I have my first internal on Thursday, what do they do? I will be 36 weeks, do I get another sono too?

So I went, now I am not a baby when it comes to pain, I can take it like a champ, it def was uncomfortable, def did not tickle, kind of hurt actually, not like a OMG I am gonna cry hurt, but I don't know how a baby is going to come out of there if that made me clench my teeth and hold my breath.
Boy oh boy...

I *think* what you are referring to is when they out a probe in your you know what instead of just rubbing it on your belly.
I had it at my first sono and at my level 2 bc LO was being uncooperative. Also had to have it to check my cervix. Did not hurt me at all!

is that what it is? just an internal sono compared to an external sono?

an internal is when they stick their hand all the way up there to check if you are dilated.
im not sure if you are getting a sono, i get tons of sonos because of my GD so i had one done but you might not

I thought it was like a routine pap smear or something, but then I saw some girls post about a sono so I was confused on which it was.
Um so is there anything else they do cause I may not be ble to walk after that lol

i swear it wasnt bad! they take a swab of your vagina and rectum, then they stick what felt like something plastic up there but only for a few seconds to get a feel of the cervix. i was dreading it and i promise it wasnt nearly as bad as it was in my imagination. it didnt feel much different from a typical gynocological exam, to be honest.

they'll probably do your strep B test as well. thats nothing, just a swab, so quick. a pap swab is worse. i found the internal a little uncomfy, its just pressure but it made me wanna climb up the table lol. nothing you cant handle though

the strep B was nothing...but internals were VERY uncomfortable for me...thankfully my doctor started them at 38 weeks so I didnt have too many of them...

i was laying down with feet in stirrups like a normal exam. my doc took the swab and wiped from my vagina straight down (at least thats what it felt like) and that was that!

Thats what mine was like too...i had a lot of anxiety for it and it was really so nothing...worse part was sitting in the room with my pants off waiting for the doctor

Literally JUST came back from my appt. It was nothing and 2 seconds.
Don't even worry about it. THe strep is nothing and is so fast then they lube up the glove and put a couple of fingers up there to feel the cervix. It was so fast and a drop uncomfortable and then it's over.

YOu don't get a sono, u do get them checking how dilated etc u are by sticking their hands up there..it's oh so pleasant!!

I had heard some girls say the internal 'hurt' or was very uncomfortable so I was very nervous going in for mine. Maybe everyone feels things differently, or the doctors do it differently, but I just had one and it was totally nothing. The doctor just felt my cervix with her finger/fingers.
It was no more uncomfortable than a regular pap smear to me.

a girl i work with just told me she had an internal last night and she thought it was going to be an internal sonogram. next thing she knew, her doc was telling her she felt the baby's head! LOL totally wasn't what i was expecting her to say either. she said it was little uncomfortable having a whole hand up there! good luck!
