here is what I would do- put on the same sweatshirt you are wearing in the picture with Joey, stuff yourself with a pillow or something similar until you are about the same size as you were with Joey, then measure your waist. See what size that would make you and then I'd round up to the next size from there to be safe.
I have the sweat outfit out actually!

Honestly, I would try and find an empire waist cut that comes in that fabric/color because I just don't see how you are going to be comfortable in that dress (even altered). It is beautiful though
I would try talking to her again. She really should understand

Man, that is a tough one! As gorgeous as the dress is it is just not meant for a preggo body. I feel like it is going to be so uncomfortable too. What if you have to go to the bathroom?
I know you said there were no other options from that designer, do you think maybe you could get a swatch and try to find a maternity dress that is close? I just think that you will be soo preggo at that point and I don't know how they are going to tailor the dress appropriately. I think if your friend is a good one she won't mind at all. Maybe she just hasn't thought much about it since she has so much planning to do?
I agree with alterations you are going to pay a lot! I think you would definitely need it to be bigger than a 12, maybe a 16??
You are a good friend! It will all work out. Maybe just mention it to your friend one more time before ordering that dress?

ITA with this. I understand not wanting to make waves but honestly that dress is a nightmare for a 38w preggo! Good luck, I hope she lets you get a dress from a different designer in the same color!

Seriously, don't feel bad! You are NOT a terrible person. You are an awesome friend for being so accommodating! A lot of people would not even be in a wedding being so far along. You will feel so much better in a more flowy dress so it is worth a shot. She will understand and if not then at least you will be comfy.

Would it be helpful to bring the picture of you right before giving birth to the seamstress? I know she can't measure but she might be able to judge where you might need more room.
Personally, I'd go a little bigger. Better to be safe and have the material.

Re: Help me - Bridesmaid dress & Pregnancy. . .
My friend was normally a size 6 and ordered a 10 for my wedding..she barely fit it, and this was 3 weeks AFTER giving birth. I would go up to a 14 at least, just in case. It's easier for them to make it smaller but there is not much to work with if it's too small, kwim? As for the extra material, I would ask the salon what they think. GL! It's a very pretty dress btw :)

Do you have the measurements for dress sizes 12-16? Maybe you can use a tape measure on your body and try to visualize what size would be best for you?

Re: Help me - Bridesmaid dress & Pregnancy. . .
I was 7 months PG for my sister's wedding this past February. I usually am a 4 or 6 and I ordered a size 18!!! it was obviously too big. I was just so scared that there wouldn't be enough room in the belly. the seamstress i used did an amazing job and i think i pulled the dress of pretty well :) I would say if order at least 2 sizes bigger but don't get carried away! is there another dress that is similar in style you can order that would be easier to fit a PG belly?

Re: Help me - Bridesmaid dress & Pregnancy. . .
Im glad you are asking her....its a beautiful dress and youll be a cute pregnant lady, but those two should not mix. I honestly just dont think there even is a way to alter that dress for a 9 month pregnant belly. If you were 4 months, I think it could be cute. 9 months, I just dont think itll work. I would hate for you to buy the dress and Jim Hjelm isnt cheap to begin with, then spend HUNDREDS to try to alter it, for it not to work out.
I would hope its more important for Glo to have you in her wedding as opposed to the dress you are wearing. I think you are a trooper for even being in a bridal party the week before you are due and Im sure Glo will understand.

Re: Help me - Bridesmaid dress & Pregnancy. . .
I was in a wedding a month after I had DD and when I found out I was pregnant the seamstress told me to order the largest size before plus size (16) that way they had fabric to work with. I would honestly ask the seamstress what she thinks. That dress seems very figure fitting..maybe they will have a better answer for you.

Re: Help me - Bridesmaid dress & Pregnancy. . .
I would probably do both - order larger and get extra fabric. I was not pregnant when ordering BM dresses, but was hoping to be, so I ordered 2 sizes up for both weddings I was in that summer. I was like 20 weeks for one and 24 for the other. For the second wedding, it was a close call and I ordered extra fabric just in case, but not when I ordered my dress and the colors were not close enough because the lots were different - thankfully, I didn't need the extra fabric, but just barely, so I would do both, just in case.

Sorry, I agree too. Same color, different dress. My SIL delivered literally days after my wedding. I didn't know that they had maternity dresses that would look somewhat like my bridesmaid dresses (which were not as tight as the dress you showed). She looked perfect: like part of the wedding party, but there was no denying she was 9 months preggo.

Don't feel bad! I can almost guarantee they will tell you they can't alter it to fit a pregnant woman. You can always just call and ask, give them the style number, and then tell best friend that they can't alter it. I know that Bill Levkoff colors in BM dresses is really close to Jim Hjelm, if that helps.
Good Luck!

Re: Help me - Bridesmaid dress & Pregnancy. . .
Is the seamstress confident that she can alter the dress? I'm only asking because of the style of the dress. I got married last July 17, my sister in law was a bridesmaid and due with her 2nd baby on July 10. She ended up having the baby June 29. I picked a dress that I thought would work with the baby since sometimes the stomach doesnt come down for awhile.
