Cough... reflux or allergies?

DS has had a hacking cough for a long time. The Ped first thought it could be acid reflux. It started to go away so I figured he outgrew it.
Well, seems like it's back. He had his 2 yr well visit last weekend. I didn't notice the cough too much then so forgot to ask the Ped. His ears, throat, etc was checked and everything checked out fine.

Now, I've noticed since Monday the cough. When he gets up then in the car to daycare. I don't hear it as much in the late afternoon, but he does cough once in a while. Mostly in the mornings.
He's a big milk drinker too.
What if it is acid reflux? Should I ask the Ped? Wait and see if it goes away?

I watched a kid who was like that. It ended up being allergies. She would hack on and off most of the day and it was worse in the morning and when she was outside for long periods of time.. She was put on Claratin and it basically went away...
