Block.....one of my favorite places. So laid back and fun. Take your bikes or rent them there.

Block Island for sure - I really dont think there is much to do at all on shelter island.

Block Island is absolutely beautiful and I think that there's more to do there but be warned, the ferry to Block Island goes out into the ocean and if you are prone to get seasick then the ride can be awful. The ride to Shelter Island is not like that at all.

I haven't been to SI, but we go to BI regularly (we rent a house every year.) As other posters have stated, there's no place like it!
