Re: Hemmroid -help!!

well i have them too and theyre hideous and horrible. my doc said i could use any over the counter remedy so i bought the preparation h, which is only ok. i also bought some witch hazel which i put on cotton pads and apply to the area. i CANNOT use regular toilet paper back there anymore and now use the scotts wet wipes, which are pretty good.

i feel your pain, girl. hemorrhoids are horrible. i am so scared of whats going to happen with them during and after labor.

Re: Hemmroid -help!!

I am fighting one right now as i type this, since Sunday actually. I had it with Lauren at 19 weeks and thought i had avoided it this pregnancy...NOPE!! Painful as he!! too! There is nothing you can do except stoll softener and Prep H, which the Colace hasn't reallt done anything. I have been cleaning it with medicated Prep H wipes and then slathering on the Prep H cream in hopes it will calm down soon. I am having it surgically removed after this baby comes finally. Sorry you have one! Good luck!

Re: Hemmroid -help!!

It does tone down, takes a couple days but after i had DD, i never had another falre up until Sunday. They are always there but have flare ups, especially with hard bowel movements that require alot of pushing. That is why part of me is glad im not having a vaginal delivery, this hemmi or horrible! He said it would probably rupture since i have a big baby too. You should be find by your c-section.

I had an awful one with #2. I actually took a prep H medicated pad, folded it up and just left it "stuck" there!

Mine ended up bursting (if that's the right word) it sounds gross (there was a lot of blood), but it was the best thing - b/c then it was gone.

Re: Hemmroid -help!!

Ugh, I *literally* feel your pain - I've been dealing with this the last couple of weeks.

It is NOT fun!!!

My OB office prescribed a hydro-cortisone cream that didn't really help me at all.

Mine was really bad, I ended up having to see a colorectal specialist because it was thrombossed (had a blood clot).

The idea is to keep things "moving" and have a BM every day so you don't get backed up which causes more straining.

Here's what I've been doing since, in addition to eating more fiber:

2 colace - twice a day
2 senekot - at night
tucks suppositories - twice a day
tucks pads instead of toilet paper

Re: Hemmroid -help!!

I've used witch hazel pads and they work well for me! I, too, would sometimes just stick a pad up there and leave it!

Re: Hemmroid -help!!

My friend had them BAD with her last pregnancy. She was in soooo much pain, she went to the ER. they gave her some creams and told her to suck it up. She was miserable for the last month of her pregnancy and nothing really helped much at all. She discussed having them removed withher doctor after the baby was born, but thankfully they subsided a lot after birth and it's not necessary. Hang in there Chat Icon

Thanks ladies! I will do this. I never experienced this with DD so I had no idea what to do. Of course, last night I went to CVS to buy all the creams and wipes and the cashier had to be the world record for the best looking CVS worker guy! Chat Icon Humiliating!

OMG! Me too! Totally gross! I'm afraid to poop!! Chat Icon
I bought some extra strength Prep H and it seems to help with the swelling. Went down a bit in a day so start using something ASAP and I'm sure the swelling will go down b4 the c-section.

Put on a pantyliner after you put anything on it too. Boy, they don't tell you all the gross things that happens throughout your pregnancy.
I have my strep test next week so I want it away b4 then since they're going down there. Chat Icon

Tucks ointment on witch hazel pads worked wonders. Wipe with one & leave one in your underwear.

They go away after you deliver, but it takes a while. Maybe will be better for you since you are not going to be pushing.
