What would you make of this??????
So after a long 5 days and playing phone tag with the Dr.'s office, I spoke with the nurse about my 3 Hr Glucose test. She says one of the numbers was borderline and the doctor had to look at it...6 hours later the nurse leaves this message on my voicemail:
"Regarding your glucose test, Dr says that it is normal..that's according to him."
Huh? How am I supposed to take that...that if she was in charge, she would tell me that I have gestational diabetes????? So now, I feel like I have it. Ughhhh - what would you make of this? I see the Dr. on Monday...

Re: What would you make of this??????
i believe you have to fail 2 of the 3 blood tests for you to have GD. I could be wrong.. but i'm pretty sure that's what i was told and read.
I'd ask the dr about it at the next appt.

It sounds to me like she wanted to clarifiy the original comment she made.. that she had said it was borderline and according to himhe looked at it and its fine..Id call back the dr. if you feel unsure about it

Re: What would you make of this??????
oh and just to add... sometimes the nurses don't know everything... but they think they do.
not all nurses but i've def come into contact with a bunch that have given misinformation etc.
I have GD and the nurse at my dr office told me i was failing my sugar blood tests bc i need to eat more vegetables. She doesn't even know how many veggies i was eating... and i was eating a TON at breakfast, lunch and dinner!!! I was failing bc I have GD and needed insulin.. it had nothing to do with my diet as my nutritionist has been on top of that.
she also told me i need to drink more water because I didn't have much pee for the cup. She has NO IDEA how much water I drink a day or how much I pee... nor did she know that I JUST peed before I got there so I didn't have much left. I think she just likes to have the answers.

Re: What would you make of this??????
I would take it as the doctor cleared you of having GD. Whatever she meant by the rest of it is irrelevant. She's not a doctor and all that matters is that he said your good. Now go have some cookies and ice cream in celebration.

Re: What would you make of this??????
Go by the Dr....I think nurses get on power trips and think they know more than they do!!!
And who knows if you even spoke to an actual nurse or a medical assistant!
If your Dr says it's normal, be happy, it's normal!

Re: What would you make of this??????
The PA at my office has a theory that I fit in...that sometimes people pass the glucose tests (I did for #1 and #2 - testing again for #3)...but still have GD. She thinks I fit into this, b/c I have 10+ pound babies.
