pedicures
I keep hearing conflicting view about whether I can get a pedicure or not.
What has everyone's experience been?
I'm 37 weeks today and my feet are so disgusting that something needs to be done!

Re: pedicures
I've had 2 so far.
I believe that when you are gurther on like yourself you should tell them to go easy on the massage and no trigger points.
a lot of women go for pedicures to start labor and it doesn't usually work

Re: pedicures
Go for it.
They know not to go rough on your feet during the massage -- and just remind them.
I had my last pedicure not long before I gave birth at 37 wks. Through the entire pregnancy I had regular pedis, once ever 2-3 wks.

Re: pedicures
I've had a few already and only told them that I'm pregnant at my last appointment. I don't use the massage chair but otherwise I don't have any concerns at this stage, maybe when I'm closer to the 30 week mark I will ask for less massaging.

Re: pedicures
Had them every 2 weeks for 2 successfull pregnancies. There's a pressure point nearthe Achilles Tendon that if stimulated could cause contractions. They usually know not to massage there on preggos....of course for all the girls I knew who were desperate to go into labor, and asked for extra massage, nothing happened!

Re: pedicures
ive had one so far, with massage. it's important for them not to massage your ankle area, but the rest of the foot is fine (as per my dr.)

Re: pedicures
I am yet to get one.. I usually do them myself.. but pretty soon, that will be a distant memory. I'll probably just tell her to hold the massage..

I go every couple of weeks and no issues. I did with last pregnancy too. Never said not to do a massage either and DS was 10 days late.

Re: pedicures
I go all the time, now hoping it triggers contractions, and nothing! I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: pedicures
I just went (had 2 so far this pregnancy) and definitely got the foot massage. I also make my hubby rub my feet! feels so good. Like the ladies said, there's a part near your ankle that can trigger contractions, so just avoid that area.

Re: pedicures
I've gotten a pedicure every 2 weeks this whole pregnancy with the massage. The only thing I didn't do is the massage chair when it bangs on your back. At 33 weeks and I look forward to my feet getting rubbed

Re: pedicures
I get them once a month. No problems. There is supposed to be a reflexology point near your ankle that can trigger contractions, but: a) I don't think I believe in reflexology; and b) According to the reflexology site I read up on, to cause contractions you would need to press hard on that one spot for over a minute, to the point of pain. Wait a few minutes, and if contractions don't start, press directly on it again, to the point of pain. I've never had a foot massage where anyone comes close to doing that!
Relax and enjoy.
