We are thinking of going here for our one year anniversary....any advice on good places to stay? Do you think it will be way too hot here in July? Is the grand canyon close to here?

Re: las vegas

We were just there in May and stayed at the Bellagio. It was really nice, the location is great, but it is getting to be one of the older hotels. I would recommend the Cosmopolitan, its a new hotel, great location. I also really like the Venetian, Paris, The Mirage, NY NY. You really can't go wrong with any of those. However the weather in July could be REALLY hot. But you could also get a week that's not too bad. I was there in July a few years ago and it was 110 degrees!
The Grand Canyon is about 3 hours away to the west rim (buy car). We took a tour there that was really nice. But honestly the south rim is a lot nicer, I think thats about 4 hours away, but worth it. I wasn't as impressed with the west rim. There's also helicopter rides that leave from Las Vegas and fly over the canyon. Depending on what you want to spend you can even land in the grand canyon. We had a blast on our trip! Good luck with planning Chat Icon

We stayed at MGM Grande and will definitely go back. It was great. The lazy river and cabana rentals were an added bonus!

Re: las vegas

I stayed at Paris, which was in the dead center of the strip, which was perfect. Hotel was great!

I went in February so I don't know about the weather, but you can definitely do the Grand Canyon from Vegas, as well as the Hoover Dam and Red Rock.

just came back from vegas and we stayed at the mgm grand. it was a very nice hotel.

we went 2 years ago in july right after 4th of july and it was very crowded and grossly hot. 107 and up with no humidity is hot.

mgm grand, paris, and mirage so far are my favorite hotels. excalibur unless they redid it, was not nice.

Re: las vegas

i've stayed at NY NY and the Mirage, both are very nice and resonable. I've always wanted to stay at the Bellagio. If you can splurge, I would do that.

It will definitely be hot in July. It won't necessarily feel like 100+ degrees because of the lack of humidity, but it will be hot. There are possibly tours that take you to the Grand Canyon from Vegas. It's over an hour or so away, but doable I think.

I love mandalay bay if you like to gamble and be served free drinks. It is nice to walk around, not crowded, and there is always someone to get you a drink and they deliver them fast!! Plus they have great restaurants and they have the aquarium.

I went to the grand canyon via a bus trip. I was younger, all I remember is it was a LONG bus ride but it was amazing to see the grand canyon and I would highly recommend doing it.

Re: las vegas

I've stayed at the Bellagio and Caesars. LOVE both. The pool at Caesars is phenominal, but the hotel's layout is difficult to navigate.

I would stay at the Bellagio over and over again. We had a fountain view room and it was so awesome to sit there with a cup of coffee watching it.

I would definitely try to stay center strip though.
