Water for formula?
Maybe this is a dumb question... sorry if it is!
I plan on at least trying to breast feed, but in case I need to go with formula, I heard that you should use BOTTLED water for it.
a) are/will you use bottle water? b) Is the filtered water from the door dispenser of a refrigerator the same thing as bottled water in this case?
Thanks!

Re: Water for formula?
We use bottled when out and filtered at home... I think the fridge door water is filtered... I'd check with the manufacturer if ur not sure

fridge door water should be filtered. But I think you should know if your fridge is filtered because you would have to install a filter into it... and I'd imagine you would have to change the filter every so often as well.
That's at least how my fridge filter works.
I'd use either filtered or bottled.

Re: Water for formula?
Honestly......I used plain old tap water. Nothing fancy here. We drink it and it never occured to me not to give her what water we drink.

I've actually been told NOT to use bottled water to mix for formula unless you have to or you're out of your local area (whatever water the baby is used to).
I use fridge filtered water.
When we go to my ILs who have well water, I boil it first if I don't have enough water (I usually bring a thermos pitcher with my own water).

Our water is definitely filtered from our fridge, but I want sure if the fluoride content was an issue even with that water...
I guess it's ok then?

I have heard not to use bottled water as well. Everything I've heard is that filtered tap water is best. I BFed my son but whenever we give him water to drink, or to mix in with anything for him, we use tap water (we have a filter on our kitchen faucet). At my IL's we use their fridge dispenser. We have definitely used both bottled and unfiltered tap on occasion though.

Me too! I asked my ped this when I had DS#2 and she said there was no reason to use bottled water, our tap was perfectly fine!

Re: Water for formula?
with DS I just used water straight from the tap being that we have some of the best water in the country here. Since then, DH installed one of the brita filters directly to the faucet so we will be using filtered tap.

Re: Water for formula?
No reason to use bottled water, other than the convenience of being able to carry it around. It's a real waste of money.
Tap water is actually subject to MUCH stricter regulations than bottled water. In most cases, it's actually better for you, since it is so strictly regulated, while bottled water isn't. Bottled water comes from the SAME RESERVOIRS as tap water, just from different states, and without necessarily going through the same filtration standards that NY tap water does.
Water that come from refrigerator doors, though, you have to be careful with. I don't have one so I don't use it, but I remember seeing a news report years ago about how if you don't clean the pipes/tubes every 6 months, all this gunk builds up inside and it's pretty gross.
