BTDT's and Recently new mommies.....

I am due in 3 weeks and it looks like we might not be in our new home by then. Currently we live in a one bedroom (but fairly spacious) apartment. I had really hoped to be in our house by the time our Chat Icon arrives but I'm beginning to think it's time to work on Plan B. We had to do a total reno on our new home and I am thinking it's better to play it safe and not move in until all the dust settles- literally Chat Icon .

So here is my dilemma:

We have a whole bunch of stuff from my shower at my parents and then we have a bunch at our apartment in our loft. DH is determined to at least have the nursery ready in the new house so I can set it up beforehand and just keep what I need at the apartment. So realistically, what do I need? I will have a bassinet and a make-shift changing table with some diapers, wipes and other changing supplies. I'm planning on keeping the swing and infant seat at the apartment too. As far as clothing and any other necessities, what do you think I will need for the first couple of weeks? I don't think it will be for much longer than that and I'd really like to limit what I will have to move after she arrives.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Chat Icon

You have the changing table and a place for her to sleep so that's good. I would take the swing or the chair. It's a place to lay her if you need to pee or cook anything, but Emmy loved hers from day 1 so i'm biased. If you can do laundry I would take 5-10 sleep and play's/onsies or Gerber zip pj's, a case or 2 of diapers, a box of wipes...I mean a BIG box of wipes, baby wash, lotion, bottles, and a blanket. They don't need much and honestly if you need more you can buy it or get it from the apartment. You will also find you will need unexpected things. Her 1st month was $$$. We bought her a cd player for music and a fan for white noise. We also bought a space heater, but her room was really cold and we keep the house cool anyway. Just plan for eating, sleeping, "playing", and bathing.

We lived in a one bedroom for the first four months. We had a fairly large bedroom so we had our bed against the wall as soon as you walked in. Our dresser in the corner of the room across from the foot of our bed. The crib and the changing table/ dresser were on the other two walls. We only had the swing and the bouncer out when he was first born. He really didn't play with anything until about 5 months so no toys are really necessary except for a few rattles and teethers.

Must haves for me in the beginning:
A crib or bassinet.
A dresser/changing table.
A bouncer. ( great for when you want to jump in the shower)
A swing.
Playmat for tummy time (easy to store in the closest)
Diapers.
Wipes.
Destin.
Newborn and 0 to 3 clothes.

Seems like you got everything pretty much, I would say the safety kit with the finger/toenail clippers, hand mits (so the baby doesn't scratch herself) and the thermometer (just in case).
