More Toddler Flying Questions!

Coming up to NY in two weeks for the summer. I've pretty much made the decision that DS and I are going to fly and not drive with DH. Three days from Florida to NY with a car stuffed full of stuff and a dog is not a good idea, IMO!!

I've never flown alone with Jordan and I'm a little nervous. Last time we flew, he was on formula and we just mixed it on the plane. Now that he's drinking milk, how do we keep it cold? I know, silly question - but will TSA let me bring on his little cooler bag with the ice packs I always use to keep his milk cold. Also a little concerned how long it's actually going to keep the milk cold

If he drank regular milk, I'd prob just get it at the airport, but he drinks Lactaid.

Last time we flew with DD she got milk so I made the bottle of milk at home and put it in the side/bottle pocket of my diaper bag with a soft ice pack. Stayed cold for hours and they didn't say anything about the ice pack at the airport, they did do that strip thing over the milk though.

We are flying next week and I plan on bringing her milk along with a small ice pack (my diaper bag has an insulated pocket for this) to keep it cold.

DS is on lactaid too and I took a small cooler with ice packs and had no problems. It keeps it cool for awhile - at least 12 hrs!

I flew with him alone too - I found people to be very helpful - boarding the plane was the most challenging - folding up the stroller and trying to keep DS close by but, the flight attendants usually entertain him for me.

I haven't flown with DS yet, but we always carry his milk in a little cooler with ice packs and it stays cold for HOURS!

We're planning on bringing one sippy of milk with ice packs. I think is highly unlikely they will make me throw it away.

We travel a lot and I always have milk in a sippy for my boys! I bring a soft cooler and have an ice pack. Make sure to put the milk cups in a ziplock though. They will leak from the pressure!
When you go through security, just take everything out of the bag. They wont even question you . They do random checks though so they might take the cups to get tested. They don't open the cup, just wipe around the bottom part and test it for explosives.
I also almost always have an unopened bottle of water and an empty water cup for me too. As long as you say its for the baby, it will be fine.

just went on southwest thru islip. no problems there, they suggest bringing boxed milk that is sealed already. brought some from home in a bottle with ice packs no problem. when i fly i bring extra milk incase we are stuck. when we flew home it was out of west palm beach, i had 3 small boxed milks (8oz) and one of apple juice. the lady asked me if i really needed that many, i said yes if the plane is stuck somewhere. my ice pack started to melt, she suggested that i bring it next time and it is frozen. i said we've been in the car for 30 minutes and it is hot out so it started to melt. they let me bring them but said to have the frozen next time.
