Ok so I feel like I am having some issues today. I am 16 weeks and just starting to show. I am still wearing my regular clothes but my pants are starting to get snug. I feel like I just look like I am getting fat rather then pregnant at this point. All my life I have tried to watch my weight and monitor what I eat. It is very strange for me to see the scale going up but it to be out of my control. I am trying to eat somewhat healthy to keep my weight gain under control but also to give the baby the nutrients it needs. I am struggling a little because I know I have to eat and gain weight for the baby but I am afraid of gaining too much weight.
Is anyone else in the same boat as me or am I just crazy?Chat Icon

Let me also add that my stomach has always been the area I am most self conscious about so now that I see it popping out it kind of freaks me out. I keep telling myself you are not fat just pregnant but that doesnt always workChat Icon

Re: Body image

I have always watched what i eat as well...not that i was always on a diet, but i know how my body operates and i know if i eat what i want i will gain weight, soo ive always been somewhat good with the occassional bad.

from the begining i have not weighed my self at home and at the drs. i try not to look at the scale. it will only depress me.

just remember its only temperary!

once you pop more you wont be soo self conscience about your belly because it will look like a prego belly and not just like you are gaining weight!

my belly is huge, but its the only part of my body i like because it looks pregnant!!

feel better!

No advice since I've always been plus sized but I wanted to say I think it's awesome you are still in regular clothes at 16 weeks. I'm 17 1/2 and have been in maternity for several weeks now.Chat Icon Chat Icon to you!!!

I agree with everything you just said!! I even talked to my doc about it b/c I felt like I was gaining quickly, which she said I wasn't. She said as long as I was eating healthy and continuing my workouts not to stress about the number on the scale. Your body is going to do what it needs to keep your baby safe and healthy. Every woman is different and so will the amount of weight we gain.

One thing I did to make myself feel better was go shopping for new clothes. I always feel better, and look better, when my clothes fit. And don't forget, you're belly will "pop" and there will be no mistaking you're preggers.Chat Icon

Re: Body image

Thanks girls.....I definitely have to go shopping. I want to make sure I have some maternity pants for when my pants wont button anymoreChat Icon It definitely feels good to have new clothes also. I almost get nervous when I see people I havent seen in a few weeks because I feel like they are staring at me waiting to see if I look different. Everyone knows I am pregnant so I know they arent thinking anything bad but its still very frustrating. I know it sounds stupid but I hope people will look at me and think I still look pretty not that I look tremendous Chat Icon Chat Icon
