MEASLES ALERT IN NASSAU COUNTY!
Case of Measles Confirmed on Long Island
MYFOXNY.COM - Health officials on Long Island have confirmed a case of measles in Nassau County and are alerting the public who may have had contact with this person.
Measles is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by a virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . Measles causes fever, runny nose, cough and a rash all over the body.
The Nassau County Department of Health said that the adult with measles may have exposed others between May 22 to 25 at locations in Woodbury, Garden City Park, New Hyde Park, and Garden City Park.
Health officials said that you may have been exposed if you visited any of the following location on the dates and times listed:

8325 Jericho Turnpike
Woodbury, NY 11797
Exposure: Sunday, May 22 from 6:30 pm to midnight
Factory/Office Building
99 Second Avenue
Garden City Park, NY 11040
Exposure: Monday, May 23 from 8:30 am to 9 pm
Factory/Office Building
55 Denton Avenue
New Hyde Park, NY 11040
Exposure: Tuesday, May 24 from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm
Office/Medical Building
520 Franklin Avenue
Garden City, NY 11530
Exposure: Tuesday May 24 from 2 pm to 6 pm
Office/Medical Building
999 Franklin Avenue
Garden City, NY 11530
Exposure: Wednesday May 25 from 9 am to 1 pm
The Health Department will be providing immune globulin prevention injections to people who are not immunized against measles, have a weakened immune system, or are under 1 year old. You can get this treatment at 106 Charles Lindbergh Blvd., Uniondale, N.Y., on Saturday, May 28, 2011, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
If you have been vaccinated as a child, you should be adequately protected from contracting measles, health officials said. If you think you were exposed and you have symptoms consistent with measles, you should call your doctor first; do not go to an emergency room because you could end up spreading the disease, health officials said.

i almost never watch the news and i saw this on the news this morning!! scary because my parents live in new hyde park and i work in garden city on franklin ave!!!! lucky not in one of those buildings but still!!
