mortgage rate lock
I was wondering if anyone has locked in a mortgage rate lately?
We had been following the rate on bankrate.com but learned that it's not necessarily an accurate number.
We're looking at a 45 day lock at 4.875%. Thoughts?
TIA

No closing date yet but we have the title and are just waiting on the results of departmental searches.

Re: mortgage rate lock
Do you know whether the bank charges you to lock for 45 days as opposed to 30? I know for most banks, 30 days is the standard period for the lock, and if you want to lock for longer, you have to pay in some form or another (fee, points, etc.).
