should I push for a sono?
long story short I flew home on monday night through an hours worth of terrible turbulence. It was really bad, we dropped and dipped, and the whole plan shock. it even leaned so far on its side a few times that everything under my seat went flying every where.
It was the worst roller coast ride I have ever been on. so many people were screaming and crying. the pilot even came over the speaker at one point and told us to tighten our seat belts.
I don't think I will fly again, and if I do its going to be a very long time from now.
Anyway- I'm REALLY nervous. I'm only 10 weeks. it was really bad. I was at my 10 week appointment tonight and I mentioned it to the dr. I didn't explain how bad it really was. people got hurt. this was not just a few bumps. it was an hour of pure hell.
Should I call for a sono tomorrow? on top of being scared something happened, they couldn't detect the hb on the doppler (he didn't try very hard but still)
I really don't want to be one of those girls that overreact to everything, but something in me has me so worried.
What should I do? TIA
forgot to add I have been crampy all day, but maybe that is from stress or lack of sleep? He said he thought the turbulence was no big deal

Re: should I push for a sono?
You can totally call your doc and ask for a sono and it would not sound like you are overreacting. At 9 weeks my OB could not see me and I had cramps so my RE actually agreed to see me to ease my anxiety.

Re: should I push for a sono?
SO did they ever get a HB on the doppler? Because if not, then why wouldn't the dr have done a sono right then and there? Seems like the logical next step to me.
If I were you... YES I would push for a sono.

Re: should I push for a sono?
10 weeks is pretty early to get a hb on a doppler. I had a hospital-grade doppler at home at that time, and it took me 15 full minutes to find a really faint sound. I don't think a doctor would invest all that time and I've heard tons of times that OBs tell their patients at 10 weeks that it's too early and you might not hear anything.
So I hope that reassures you about that. From what I've heard, babies are REALLY well protected in utero - they're floating around, cushy in the amniotic sac, with a thick layer of fluid protecting them. Wait till you have sonos later in your pregnancy - you'll see how hard they push on your belly, smoosh it down, try to move parts of the baby through it! It's so hard, it hurts! And that doesn't hurt the baby.
I'm not saying that your concerns aren't valid and that you shouldn't insist on a sono if you really think you need one. I just want to try to reassure you that the stuff you're telling me still sounds normal. Hang in there.
