Travelocity - Top Secret Deals (HELP - Advice Needed)
So.........has anyone ever used the "Top Secret Deals" on Travelocity to book a hotel? They are offering some awesome prices BUT you don't find out what hotel until AFTER you book and the reservation is non-refundable. All you can see is the rating to make your decision. I am hesitant. Any insight?

Re: Travelocity - Top Secret Deals (HELP - Advice Needed)
I did once. We were going to Dorney Park and did not care at all what hotel we were staying at. The hotel was super cheap and it was a Holiday Inn Express, but it was in a terrible location and it was pretty crappy. Really crappy, in fact. We actually found a few bags of pot in our ice bucket. Random, I know.
ETA: Would I do it again? Maaaaaaaaaybe, but only if I REAAAAALLY didn't care what kind of hotel I'm staying in.

That's what I am nervous about. I chose one with a 4 star hotel rating and a 4/5 smiley rating from people but I am still WAY nervous to pull the trigger. Also because I am looking at hotels in NYC so you know if you don't choose right you can be in a roach infested rat hole.

Sounds the same as the hotwire/priceline deals? I would use caution with that unless I don't really care where I stay or know I can accept the worse of the hotel in that area/star category. Not sure how easy it is to find that out from travelocity.
I normally just visit priceline and bid instead so I can at least can research the hotels in the area/category to make sure they are all acceptable.

Oh yeah! That would scare me a little, too! This one was 3 stars and had pretty good ratings, too. Who knows! Good luck though, let us know how it works out if you decide to do it!

Re: Travelocity - Top Secret Deals (HELP - Advice Needed)
So I just booked a hotel room (for a good rate) with full disclosure. I just couldn't take the risk that we'd end up in a dive.........especially because it's the city. I am happy though.........ended up in the Double Tree Resort right in the center of Times Square. It got amazing reviews and it was only $240/night. Not bad for being in the middle of everything!
