Sunscreen for Babies
This will be my first summer with a DC.
DS is 8.5 month old and has sensitive/light skin just like his Daddy. In other words, he will turn red like a lobster within 10 minutes of being in the sun.
Can you please tell me which sunscreen you use/d at this age?
Also, do you need to use a seperate one for their face and scalp?
I know someone posted a link to a website last week with the top sunblocks that included organic ones as well, but I forgot to notebook it.
THANKS!!

Re: Sunscreen for Babies
My son has the same see-through Irish skin that his mommy and daddy both have! So I was neurotic last summer about sunscreen. He was about 6-8 months throughout last summer. I used Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby sunscreen. It's SPF60, which is the highest SPF I could find that was "pure" and meant for babies or for sensitive skin. They also make it in a little stick, which I used for his face. Works great, and we'll be using it again this summer!

Re: Sunscreen for Babies
My 11 mo old's skin is very sensitive and I've used the new Johnson & Johnson sunscreen on her and it was great. Also used Coppertone Baby and Banana Boat Baby and both were fine - she had no reactions to them. The organic ones I found nasty - very thick and just didn't like them. Someone told me Coppertone was better than Neutrogena actually...I would have thought otherwise. I use the lotion for 1st application...put it everywhere even her face. Then I have a stick I use on her ears and put more over the lotion on her face/nose area. I reapply with the aerosol sprays b/c it's just easier to use those when outside for re-application. I had her in hats when we were on vaca so haven't needed to do her scalp yet but I just bought a spray for her scalp for the summer...haven't tried it yet with this lovely weather we've been having.

SafeMama Sunscreen Cheat Sheet
I bought the Badger and the Loving Naturals sunscreen for my kids based off this list. The Badger brand is a little greasier and holds up to water better so I'll reserve that for the water activities.

Re: Sunscreen for Babies
I use Johnson & Johnson. It gets a good rating, doesn't have as many of the bad chemicals as some of the other major brand sunscreens and its only 9.00 bucks.

Re: Sunscreen for Babies
My granddaughter's ped recommended Skin So Soft Sunscreen with a bug repellent in it. It's 30 SPF which is as high as he said a baby her age (6 mos now) should have. There is an Avon store in Sunrise Mall.
