So I've been exerimenting with eye makeup...
I think I have deep set eyes. The skin is thin under my eyes and you can see darkness. So every time I wear mascara and eyeliner on my bottom lid/lash, I feel like it just darkens that area.
So I tried this weekend to wear just eyeliner and mascara on my upper lids and lashes, and concealer under my eyes. I feel like this brightens my eyes.
Does anyone else do this, or have this type of facial structure? Any other tips?

I don't think my eyes are deep set, bt I have dark circles that will always be there (hereditary). I cannot wear any dark liner at all, it's got to be a jewel color or, if it's darker, in the inner rims.
All concealers bring out my fine lines, so all I do under my eyes is use moisturizer and then Smashbox Photo Op under-eye brightener. I can't wear mascara on my bottom lashes b/c it smudges, even if it's waterproof.

Try also using a beige pencil on your water line. I like the Laura Geller Double Eye Appeal.
I use the beige on my lower water line and the shimmer on the inner corners of my eyes and also my brow line.

I think I have the same issue. I also figured out that dark eyeliner under my eyes does not work for me, and makes me look bug-eyed.
I usually do what you tried- liner/mascara on the upper lid, and only line the lower waterline. Sometimes I'll use a brightly colored line on the lower lid, like turquoise or or bright purple for a pop of color, if it goes w my look, but never a black/dark liner.
