LV bag question ........
I was recently at the LV store in Manhasset looking at the Neverfull when the lady there told me that they don't maintain their "perfect" condition longer than 3 months. She took out a bag from the back to show me what a "lightly used" bag looked like after 6 months and the tan strap looked almost black and it looked verrrrrrrrrrrrry worn.
I'm just wondering how accurate this is ... does this really happen to LV bags in such a short amount of time?!
She showed me that bag from the back that had been used for 6 months because I mentioned that I like to keep my bags looking in perfect condition as long as possible and she tried convincing me that was just not the brand for me then

Re: LV bag question ........
She was right. What she was referring to was the patina, the light leather of the bag (handles and such). Normal wear darkens the leather. In my opinion the bag only looks fake the longer the color doesn't darken b/c the fake bags do not darken.
edited to say: I know people who have had their bags for years and the leather is not black. The person may have not really taken care of their bag especially if that happened in 6 months.

I agree... Its from the oils in our skin and just overal wear and tear on that part of the bag, this is what I love on the bags...
I also agree that When I see the light beige on an LV Bag... they are usually knock offs... (or just brand new but usually knock offs lol)

I agree! I love the look of the handles when they get darker. I couldn't wait until mine turned.

Re: LV bag question ........
it does darken over time... but not THAT quickly.
i got my LV Speedy30 for my wedding almost 3 years ago and it still isnt very dark. It is Damier Azur so maybe that has something to do with it, its lighter to begin with?

Re: LV bag question ........
Mine took about a year to get dark and it was a speedy that i used EVERYDAY..
When I got the neverful I ended up buying the Damier so that it would stay "new" looking forever!

Re: LV bag question ........
I mentioned in another thread that i dont like my handles to get too dark. I dont like that dirty look. That new handle look doesnt last long and its not that it looks fake bc I find that the fake ones have more a coating on them more beige than tan so dont worry about that.
I sprayed my handles with leather protectant but please do not go by me I dont want to be responsible but thats what I did but I read this on purse forum and it worked for me. My handles are a peachy tan I love the patina they got. I also rotate my bags for that reason, I dont use it all year long. But if you want the bag dont let that stop you

Vachetta leather turns darker with the sun and the oils from our skin.

Re: LV bag question ........
I have many LV bags and none of mine turned black. They do get dark over time, but it turns a dark honey color.

Re: LV bag question ........
I prefer when the handles get darker (although I've never seen them actually get black). When I see them too clean and light, I assume it's a fake although it could just be brand new.
