Aggravated at Buy, Buy Baby!

So, I have my registry at Buy, Buy Baby. I'm due in August.

There is another girl with the SAME NAME as me - whose husband ALSO has the same name as me - but they live in ILLINOIS. They are due in JULY.

My friend said she went to the Garden City BBB the other night and asked for my registry. The girl at the registry desk printed out mine and my Illinois TWIN. Then was verbalizing to my friend that I must have created TWO registries and made one with a July due date to get an earlier 10% completion coupon, which the BBB employee seemed ****** about. And she was comparing the registries and was saying how ridiculous it was that I made two registries and that I'm going to get a LOT of doubles and will have to do a LOT of returning.

Um... excuse me... but I only have ONE registry and how DARE you bad mouth me to one of my guests when I am bringing your store business with my registry!?!?!?

Not to mention that she obviously was not careful in giving my guest the correct registry. What if this happens a lot and people buy me what this Illinois couple wants?? What if someone I know has a gift SHIPPED to the Illinois people and I never know about it???

This is just wrong on so many fronts. I called BBB Corporate office to complain. The girl apologized and is having the manager call me back. Arrrrrggggghhhh...

Can you maybe add a middle name to your registry?

I agree that was rude of the customer service worker. She could have gone a step further and seen that the registries are from 2 different states ... completely different addresses!!

I'm sure though, there are people who do double registries just for an extra completion coupon. So I see why she might have thought that at first glance... but look at the addresses... and even still don't make assumptions of people you do not know.

Wow that is inexcusable of that sales clerk! Who in the world does she think she is being judgmental like that, especially when she's WRONG!

If your name was Mary Smith and your husband was John Smith, would she have been more savvy to think "oh, maybe those are common names"???

I would be livid and I'm glad you're calling corporate to complain!

I would definitely do what Kerri suggested and either put your middle name or add a maiden name on yours? Or make the comment section something like "this is for the NY baby to be" or something?

I hope they do right by you. That really is deplorable.

We had a situation where a couple with a name similar to ours had a registry and was due about the same time... One of the guests at my shower bought a gift and it was accidentally shipped to the other couple. Since the other couple kept the gift, BBB did nothing about it. I felt terrible bc the shower guest went out and bought a second gift. BBB has been cooperative with so many returns, but this one thing really annoyed me.
