I heard that Winthrop now has an additional wing for maternity, which means mostly everyone will be getting their own room. Did anyone else hear this?

Was just there... Not true! They do have a second wing now, but if you want a private room you have to request and pay for it. If it's busy, you will have a roommate. If it is slower, they will put you in a double room by yourself, but that doesn't mean you won't get a rooommate. I had a c-section and was there for 4 days and had 3 different roommates. It was awful. And it was so busy that there was a wait list for the private rooms. Private rooms are now $300 a night too.

Boo!! No way cna I afford $300 a night x 4 nights since Im having a C Section.
Did it with DD, and it was the best decision ever, but now with a mortgage...just cant do it.
Prayers for a slow day on June 14th!

i was there for 4 days a couple of weeks ago and had my own room the whole time. My roomate left the first night i was there at 10pm and had the room to myself ever since
they try not to double up as long as they are not busy

They didn't have Wifi when I was there in November 2009, that may have changed.
If you want a private room request it as soon as you get there. That's what we did. They try to accomodate c-section patients first. They never charged me either, I guess because they weren't busy enough to have to double up (I gave birth over Thanksgiving weekend).

Yay!!! Im scheduled for June 14th! That would be great!

I am scheduled for a C section on June 14th too at Winthrop! Maybe we will be roomates... LOL

I just delivered there on the 6th. I had my baby early Friday morning. They were sooooo busy. When I first got my room I had a room mate. I requested a private room and was told that 6 people were being discharged and I was # 5 on the list for a private room. By 3pm I was moved into the private room. I was under the assumption that this time with the new policy that if they had the room you wouldn't be charged. I just got a bill for $440 for 2 nights.
The strange thing is when I had DS 2 years ago I also got a private room for 2 nights and my bill was $540...
