Re: Doulas

Celeste Rachell teaches an amazing Bradley class out of her home in Roslyn. She's a doula and trains doulas; I'd trust anyone she recommends.

Re: Doulas

I live in New York City and rates for Doula's vary between $800-$2500, the rates vary based on the number of births the Doula has under her belt.

Typically this includes 1 or 2 pre labor visits and then the entire labor. The doula will labor with you at home for several hours before heading to the hospital. I've read a few Doula forums and I've seen that most assume that they will be gone for 24 hours from the time they are called.

My sister in law had a great Doula (but she lives in Jersey) who helped her labor in various positions at home and was a strong advocate for her at the hospital. There are great studies out there indicating that the presence of a Doula will diminshes rate of c-section, epidural and length of active labor in hospital.

Great! I actually called her yesterday and left a message with her husband. I'm glad to hear she's good!
