Re: women's contemp care of smithtown
as far I know, those are the only 2 hospitals, and I was told that if u chose to deliver at any other hospital but st. catherine's, you will not be guaranteed a doctor from there practice.
i was told that by the doctors themselves, and actually just today was told differently by the billing department.

Re: women's contemp care of smithtown
They are only affiliated wtih the 2 you listed.
I delivered my DS at St Catherines last month with them and I can see why you would not be guaranteed one of their Drs if you chose SB for example.
The day of my scheduled c/s they were in the hospital ALL day (2 drs) other 2 drs were off that day. They delievered like 6 or 7 babies, and had at least 2 non OB surgeries. Another day I was chatting with my dr when she got a call that someone was heading over needing a procedure....she was there all day between checking on her patients, delivering and additional things that came up. So it would be hard to get to SB if someone had needed her.

Re: women's contemp care of smithtown
they are only using those 2 hospitals
and based on the paperwork they gave me, when you go into labor, you call in and they tell you what hospital to go to, its not a choice.
I go tonight, and I'm going to talk to my dr about it because I picked this pratice so I could deliver at stony brook. I live much closer to stony brook and I like stony brook better. I don't want to deliver at st catherines due to the distance from my home. I live very east.

get everything in writing from them. I had the same discussion with Dr R (who I love love love), and everything was all fine and dandy UNTIL MY WATER BROKE, then it was "you can only go to Stony Brook if you sign yourself out of our care AMA (against medical advice)". Imagine how nervous/scared/pissedoff I was?!
I showed up @ stony brook with my medical records in hand and i said, "PLEASE, someone, anyone, catch my baby."
Everything was fine, University Associates is the hospital practice so they delivered me and did all the followup care. More details in my birth story. I was very happy with them and switched to university associates as my primary gyn from then on.
This time, I'm delivering with the midwives (same office as university assoc).
