My newborn eating less....normal??
DS was up to 3.5-4 oz per feeding every 3-3.5 hours, the past few days he won't take more than 2.5-3oz per feeding so I started feeding him every 2.5-3 hours so that he eats the same amount in a day.
Is this normal? I'm not sure if his tummy hurts, he doesn't seem to be complaining, just gets fussy if I try to feed him more, he isn't burping as good as he was before so I'm wondering if he has gas...he presses his lips so tightly together it's impossible to even try to get him to eat some more.
FYI...the dr. doesn't seem concerned bc he is growing and gaining perfectly..but i'm wondering what's up.

If the doctor isn't concerned, then I don't think you should be.
Let him guide you on how much he eats. Don't try to force him to eat more often if he's not ready to.
What is his total # of ounces per day? A rough guide is 2.5 to 3.5 oz per lb the baby weighs per day. So a 10 lb baby should have between 25 and 35 oz a day. That's a HUGE range! As long as your baby is thriving and the ped isn't concerned, I wouldn't be either.
DD has days where she eats around 27 oz and days where she eats like 35 oz. We all have our hungry and less hungry days!
