WWYD I bought a banana leaf plant and its ruined...
Yesterday I bought a huge banana leaf plant among tons of others things at Hicks Nursery...I spent over $1000....we are redoing the back yard....I left a few big items to picks up at a later time b/c there was no more room....so DH and I picked up the stuff last night in a pick up truck, drove a few miles on the Northern State and by the time we came home the banana leaf plant was completely shredded!!!!! Its an $80 plant!!! SHOULD i go back to HIcks and exchange it?...They saw us load into the pick up....shouldn't they have warned us that the plant is delicate and not to leave it outside in the truck?! We spent over $1000 there yesterday! Should I ask for an exchange?

Did you ever go to LS Garden Mart on Horace Harding Blvd. In Great Neck they are next to North Shore Farms? They have really great plants. I got some really great palms & Banana plants there and they are doing great.

If the plant was in good shape when you bought it, I don't see how its their responsibility to exchange it. They couldn't know that you would be driving on the parkway.
They *may* exchange it since you just spent so much there, but they're certainly not obligated to.

I agree. It wouldn't hurt to ask them.. but really I don't think it's their problem.

I think the plant will be fine. Leaves fall off and die and regenerate new ones. Plants are very resilient as long as the trunk and roots are in good shape. I had a nice plant that got shredded after a bad hail storm last year and its leaves are fine now.
