Lake George

I am trying to plan a trip to Lake George for this summer. We have never been there. One resort I came across was the Georgian. Any feedback? seems like a good deal. Another was The Sagamore, but something on Trip Advisor mentioned bed bugs-yuck! Any other suggestions and/or must see/do things while we are there?

TIA

Re: Lake George

DH and I stayed at the Georgian about 7 or 8 years ago, and from what I remember we liked it. I can't recall any complaints that we had. It was in a very good location, right on the lake, and also right on the main street so it was very convenient for walking to attractions and restaurants. From what I remember of the room, the bathroom was pretty nice and the bed was soooo comfortable. I seriously still think about how comfortable the bed was every time we stay in a hotel. I've been to 5 star resorts where the beds weren't as comfy. Don't know if that matters to you, but just thought it might be a plus Chat Icon

Re: Lake George

I've never heard that The Sagamore has bed bugs. Its by far the nicest resort on Lake George. Expensive, but gorgeous and well worth the money.

You could also try the Fort William Henry resort (the rooms in the main hotel part). That is also very nice and right down town, close to everything.

The Holiday Inn was just re-done and is pretty really nice too, but that is a walk into town (10 minute walk). If you dont mind being a little further from everything it's def worth a shot.

The Boathouse is absolutely stunning but very pricey. I dont know what your budget is, but if you're willing to splurge I'd highly recommend it.

And if you're going with a bunch of people another great option is The Lodges at Cresthaven. Again, a little pricey but they're very very nice and not too far from town (about a 5 - 10 min drive).

My BF has a house in LG and we go up in the summer all the time. Feel free to FM me with any questions and I can try to help you out Chat Icon

Re: Lake George

Oh, missed the second part of your question. A few ideas of things to do:

you could rent a boat for a day and get a camping island

Stop in at the Adirondack Winery (on Canada Street) for a wine tasting. Try the blueberry shiraz - sooo good!

Great Escape

Mini Golfing

Outlet mall (great for a lazy or rainy day)

Tour the lake on the Minne Ha Ha (they have firework cruises and moonlight cruises too) or do a dinner cruise on the Lac Du Saint Sacrement

Oh...and for breakfast one day I highly recommend Sutton's (it's right near Great Escape). They have delish breakfasts and a whole country store, bakery, gift shop, furniture store, candy shop... we go every single time we're in town because we love it so much

Thank you so much for all the information. We booked The Georgian for four nights. I hope we like it! I am definitely taking the recommendations everyone made for restaurants and things to do. I am so excited for this trip, I have always wanted to go to Lake George!
